Previews: Delia Brown – Last Exit: Punta Junta @ Martha Otero Gallery

Opening tonight at Martha Otero Gallery is a new show by Delia Brown. Entitled Last Exit: Punta Junta, this exhibition is a continuation of her Guerilla Lounging Project where parties are hosted in the luxuriously pimped out playgrounds of the upper class. The difference is that the ones depicted living it up are those of the middle and lower classes. Delia works during these few hours of decadence and fantasy to capture these unique situations with her brush. The show runs until April 14th, so stop by if […]

Studio Visits: Conor Harrington – “Dead Meat” @ Lazarides

For those who couldn’t make the trip for Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) exhibition Dead Meat opening tonight at London’s Lazarides (Rathbone Place), AM brings you an insider’s look into the artist’s compound as he was preparing for the show earlier last month. For this body of work, fans will see a conscious focus on the part of Mr. Harrington on his painterly talents. Also, as seen in these photos, Conor is a creature of minute details. His space is covered with photographic and still life references which are […]

Openings: F*CK Art @ Museum of Sex

AM recently attended the wild premiere of F*CK Art, at New York’s Museum of Sex. As the bold title indicates, the group exhibition curated with the help of Mighty Tanaka aimed to pique the interest in both sex and art by pushing and melding the boundaries with the movement from the streets. From paintings to sculptures to interactive installations, the show had the audience constantly buzzing as artists took their works a little further towards the edge. We caught Rostarr’s nation of millions canvas and […]

POW WOW ’12: Suitman

For this year’s POW WOW, we see the return of performance artist, Young Kim aka Suitman. The versatile man of many talents continued expanding his longstanding  suit-photography series which he also explored during last year’s Pow Wow. With all the portraits created from the attendees from the opening night a year ago, Suitman pasted up and hand-finished two site specific outdoor murals to be displayed in the neighborhood of Kaka’ako thus giving a “distinguished” face to the event’s name. Check out more after the jump.
