The inaugural edition of STRARTA fair was opened this weekend at Saatchi Gallery, at the very beginning of London art week. Not long after finishing his big installation at Rice University Art Gallery, prolific artist Gaia is back on the streets focusing on a new mural in Kingston, NY for the O+ Festival, a very unique event in which artists exchange their contributions for health and wellness services from art-loving doctors, dentists, and other medical providers. On his recent travels around the world, Chinese born artist DALeast (interviewed) stopped recently in Malaga, Spain, to leave his mark for the Malaga Maus project. Always up for pushing his work and technique, the artist decided not to place his mural on a flat wall, but used the architectural challenges of the place. On the 11th of October, StolenSpace in London opened a solo show of artist Haroshi. The Japanese artist that built his name and career around his huge love for skateboarding brought his latest work to the British capital in a show simply titled Pain. There are only few days left before Brooklyn-based artist, KAWS opens his solo show at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia on October 11th. As previously mentioned the artist is working on the institution’s inaugural plinth sculpture, but also, these days he is busy installing his paintings in the galleries of the Historic Landmark Building. Parra (Piet Janssen) opened his newest solo show And wait for something to happen last Friday, 4th of October at Ruttkowski;68 gallery in Cologne, Germany. It is his fourth day of his street residency in New York, and for today the ever elusive Banksy created an ongoing series of works titled Random graffiti given a Broadway makeover. Known for simple, witty ideas, this concept is a perfect example of the street artist’s creative thinking. Bristol’s elusive street artist, Banksy, just launched a website, BanksyNY.com, which is dedicated to a new project he hinted at on his official website some 10 days ago. According to the site, Better Out Than In appears to be a month long street residency during which Banksy will be attempting to host an entire show on the streets of New York.
