Only two weeks after his trip to Mexico, where he revealed a trophy that was commissioned by Nike for their big Tampa Pro skateboarding contest, Japanese artist and passionate skateboard lover, Haroshi, welcomed us in his studio in Tokyo. Through April 27th, Michael Kohn Gallery’s new project space (dubbed Michael Kohn Projects) at 7270 Beverly Blvd will have a Marion Peck solo on display. Featuring eleven new works entitled simply Animals, the show has the LA-based painter continuing her surreal rendering of anthropomorphized creatures. German artist Hendrik Beikirch / ECB recently opened his solo show “Transsib – Greyhound. Paintings from train and bus rides” @ Ruttkowski;68 Gallery in Cologne, Germany on 5th of April (previewed). Along with works on canvas that he prepared exclusive for this occasion, the artist introduced himself with a big scale mural he did in Cologne. Italian artist and illustrator Marco Mazzoni opened a solo show last night with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy. As we mentioned in the preview for this show, this is Marco’s 1st solo show in a city where he has been working and living in for years. Iceland born artist Katrin Fridriks will have a solo show during Art13 art fair in London from the 1st until 3rd of March 2013. Italian artist Marco Mazzoni is currently preparing a solo show with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy, opening on the 19th of February 2013. With fifteen new medium-scale colored pencil paper drawings, twelve Moleskin paper drawings, and a site-specific installation, his 1st solo show in the city he lives and works in, will be one of his biggest to date. During the fall, Tim Biskup had a big solo at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea Gallery in Milan. We had a privilege to visit Chris Berens in his new studio in Amsterdam, just after he finished his 3 new impressive works for last year’s PAN Art Fair. The studio is in an old house in the very center of Amsterdam, and is filled up with a wide selection of memorabilia, souvenirs, random objects, from old books, photographs, religious figures, vintage furniture, and medicinal glassware, to big AT-ATs in the windows.
