This Saturday, October 3rd from 12 to 2 pm, Aron Wiesenfeld will be opening his first solo in Europe at Galleri Ramfjord in Norway. For art lovers in Oslo, the show will introduce them to the haunting and brooding works of the American artist, full of mystery and rich landscapes. Openings: Aaron Li-Hill – “Resonance” Installation @ Soundwall

Last week, Soundwall in New York unveiled Resonance, a new immersive installation by Aaron Li-Hill (interviewed) made possible by LeBasse Projects. Made from wood, aerosol, primer and acrylic mirror, the piece was inspired by one of the Brooklyn-based artist’s favorite music groups – A Tribe Called Red. On October 17th, If You Lived Here I’d Be Home By Now will open at Jonathan LeVine Gallery (529 West 20th Street), a new body of work from Seonna Hong. For the upcoming Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale in Russia, the Berlin-based EVOL has prepared a special installation featuring his signature reproduction of urban structures. The twist on this piece though, entitled Mind the Gap, is the red-tinged separation that runs right down the center of the buildings. Returning to Boston for the third and final piece in a series of public works on the tallest building in the city, JR (interviewed) decided place his new work on the 44th to 50th floor. Standing at 150 feet tall and 86 feet wide, the piece is the tallest work ever envisioned by the French photograffeur. Last week, It Looks Like It Says opened at Joshua Liner Gallery, the latest solo from Geoff McFetridge. The exhibition consisted of a series of large scale works as well as smaller works on paper arranged together on one wall of the New York showspace. The Los Angeles-based artist’s first solo with the gallery introduced fans in the area to his minimalistic aesthetic, emphasizing basic forms and plays on perspective. Discuss Geoff McFetridge here.

Previews: Kent Williams – “Bones With Flesh” @ EVOKE Contemporary

Following up on a show at EVOKE Contemporary back in 2013 (covered), Kent Williams will be opening another solo tonight (September 25th) at the New Mexico showpace. Entitled Bones With Flesh, the new body of work includes some exquisite oil painting as well as some looser studies on paper. The subject matter centers on the Los Angeles-based artist’s mastery of the human form but also superimposed over these skills are more abstract elements throughout the composition. Releases: Luke Chueh / 1xRUN – “Graffiti” Print

Another artist participating in this year’s Murals In The Market in Detroit has released a print in association with the event. Luke Chueh’s (interviewed) contribution through 1xRUN is entitled Graffiti, a tongue-in-cheek image based on a painting from 2008 entitled Graffiti (I Don’t Do…).
