Streets: Tanker Mural Collaboration (Copenhagen)

Artists Simon Hjermind Jensen, Theis Wendt, Anders Schmidt and Silas Inoue recently completed a pretty sweet collaboration mural in Odinsgade, Copenhagen featuring a giant tanker. Utilizing architectural elements like the chimney as well as existing graffiti, the grounded ship is a striking addition to the capital of Denmark. Moving on from our recent studio view, and drilling further down into the creative process of the artists involved in the upcoming Space//Form exhibition, we now bring you an insight to how the above piece entitled “Soft- Serve” was created by Vancouver based artist Jeff Depner. Jeff worked on one of the identical 10×10 inch panels that were supplied to all of the artists for the exhibition by Ampersand. Upcoming: Slinkachu – “Global Model Village” @ Andipa Gallery

Coming up at the end of next month (Sept 27th), street sculptor and photographer Slinkachu will be opening a new show at Andipa Gallery in London. Entitled Global Model Village, the exhibition will feature a mix of installations placed in different cities around the world in the course of his travels (like the piece seen above from New York). The show coincides with the launch of his new book also called Global Model Village which comes out the same day in the UK from Boxtree Macmillan and in the USA from Blue Rider Press. […]

A week from Saturday, New Yorkers will feast their eyes on the lush new work of Jeff Soto (interviewed). The summary of last week’s street activity is headlined by this new mural from Aaron Martin (aka Angry Woebots) in Hawaii. The piece which is located in the kaka’ako district at the UFC Gym (BJ Penn) in Honolulu was painted in preparation for the upcoming POW WOW event. It looks like all the pieces for Gregory Euclide’s upcoming show in Denver at the David B. Smith Gallery have arrived safely. Along with his intriguing paintings which include both two-dimensional and three-dimensional elements, Euclide has also been working in the project room on one of those whiteboard paintings (seen below) that his fans have been impressed with recently. This Friday, August 31st, following on the heels of the Andrew Schoultz showing, Evah Fan will be opening a new show at Park Life in San Francisco. The Bay Area-based artist will be presenting a selection of gouache paintings entitled What Have You featuring her colorful and often minimalistic imagery. Look for an increase in her usual size of works as well as the incorporation of collaged elements in this new body of work.
