Just this past Saturday night, the Mark Moore Gallery in Los Angeles hosted Go West, a joint show between Kris Kuksi and David Ellis curated by Joshua Liner that is a followup to the Go East exhibition that was hosted at their New York last May where the two galleries roles were flip-flopped. For his part, Kuksi brought along several of the large mixed media assemblages that he is famous for. It looks like the 2012 edition of See No Evil has kicked off with this new piece from the Belgium-based ROA. Coinciding nicely with the Unnatrual-Natural History exhibition where he also threw up some public art, The prolific street muralist hit up Bristol with another piece featuring his signature imagery. This weeks featured mural for our world roundup is from Liliwenn & Bom K (Da Mental Vaporz) in Brest, France for Crimes of Minds (photo by Kevin Perro). This is the last piece for the project to transform the city into an urban art museum. Look for videos and a book next year documenting the process. Upcoming: Skullphone – “London, XX12” @ Ivory & Black

Next Friday night (July 20) in London, Skullphone will be opening his latest solo show entitled London, XX12 at Ivory & Black. The new body of work centers around his hand-painted digital media series (which mimics his digital billboard takeovers on the streets) and a sculpture installation, cast from the artist’s foot no less. Openings: Tat Ito – “Shinagawa Shinju” @ Above Second

Last month, the Above Second Gallery in Hong Kong played host to Japanese artist Tat Ito a selection of his paintings. Shinagawa Shinju featured the NY-based artists riff on storytellers of Japanese rakugo, a form of verbal entertainment based on comical monologues about ordinary lives. Ito’s imagery is well suited for the subject matter as the miniature characters in his work are often involved in humorous situations in the rich background tapestry of his world. Preview: Meggs – “Truth In Myth” @ White Walls

Tomorrow night in San Francisco, White Walls will be lending their walls to Australia-based painter Meggs as he reveals a new body of work he has been creating on site over the last month. Truth in Myth will feature his comic-inspired imagery infused with kinetic textures and abstract touches played out on multiple surfaces. Besides the aerosol and acrylic on canvas works, his renderings of gods, heroes, and supernatural beings were also painted on plaster skulls, original 1980’s Phantom Comics, and wood knife sculptures. Openings: Dan McCarthy – “Dear Science” @ Gallery 1988 – Venice

Last weekend, the Venice location for Gallery 1988 presented a whole new body work from Dan McCarthy (interviewed). Dear Science is the New England-based artist’s third solo with the gallery (see 2010 and 2011) and featured a series of originals as well as limited edition offerings. Known for his vibrant renderings of different times of day including dawn and dusk where the color and lighting can be quite stunning, McCarthy’s work documenting the great outdoors brings on a feeling of quite reflection when viewing the paintings. Releases: Aron Wiesenfeld – “David” Etching

Tomorrow, July 14th (noon PST), Aron Wiesenfeld will be releasing a limited edition etching on his webstore. David will be produced in a run of 45 (with 5 AP’s), sized at 18.5 x 15″, and will cost collectors who want to add it to their collection $295.
