Fresh off his debut solo show at Anno Domini in October, Tel Aviv street artist Know Hope has another show coming up at Ad Hoc Art on January 16th entitled “The Insecurities of Time.” His characteristic collaged works will be on display – usually multimedia pieces including cardboard, watercolor, oil, paper and string. Amanda Visell / Bone Marrow Drive

Baby Tattooville alum Amanda Visell is organizing a bone marrow drive for one of her close friends who has had a relapse with his leukemia. None of his family members are a match and he desperately needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. Not that this should be the reason why you would get tested to see if you are a match, but she is willing to send you an original drawing if you do go through with it. Check all the details after the […]

Creative Process: Tin

Thanks for the nice response to our Eric Fortune article earlier this month. Continuing with our Creative Process feature, the next artist we bring you is – Tin. This particular example is called “Amish Girl Gone Wild” and was painted specifically for this article.  Hear him talk a little about how he develops a painting from concept to completion…after the jump.

Robert Williams Lecture @ Oakland Museum of California

If you ever wanted to learn about how the “Low Brow” art movement started, this series of videos posted by sketchv might interest you.  Broken into 11 parts (Part 1 seen above), these videos recorded the lecture of Robert Williams at the Oakland Museum of California a couple months ago that was part of the L.A. Paint show (currently showing still).  Although not the best quality, Williams can be heard covering a wide variety of topics as well as talk about over 60 of his […]

Teaser: Gary Baseman @ Urbanix (Israel)

Internationally known artist, Gary Baseman, will be opening a show in Israel at Urbanix on January 8th entitled “The Sacrificing of Cake.” Judging from the show description, this body of work will be intriguing as it is rooted in some personal experiences.  Also, we will be interested to see the appearance of the “dragons” as we don’t believe he has used that imagery before. “He presents in his works the image of the dragon “Uga” (meaning “cake” in Hebrew), slaughtered again and again by feminine […]

David Choe – Choegal Origins

David Choe posted up some images on his blog that showed some of the creative process behind his Choegal figure that he recently released. He included a painting that Choegal was apparently based on as well as progress shots of the sculpt, various faces, etc…  Check out the photo set after the jump.

Allison Sommers Sculptures

It’s always tricky when artists attempt to convert their work from 2D to 3D.  It needs to be done in such a way that the sculpture is able to capture the essence of their work and make it instantly recognizable.  Some artists will hire others to bring their vision and ideas to fruition, perhaps because sculpting is not their forte or they rather use their time to concentrate on their primary medium such as painting – for example – Jeremy Fish (recently), Scott Musgrove, or […]

Looks like some preview images have come out for Herakut’s upcoming “The Perfect Merge” book. It incorporates some of the images from their outstanding “Dirty Laundry” show and definitely will be something that we will be adding to our collection. Preview images after the jump.

David Choe “Choegal” Signing
