Openings: Seonna Hong – “In Our Nature” @ Hashimoto Contemporary

Last weekend, Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco held the opening reception for a solo exhibition from Seonna Hong (interviewed). Entitled In Our Nature, the new body of work from the Los Angeles-based artist continued her landscape works featuring her human and animal companions surrounding by minimalistic environments created from abstract and loose elements. Showing: KAWS – “Clean Slate” @ NorthPark Center (Dallas)

After making an appearance in Hong Kong and Ibiza, KAWS’ monumental Clean Slate sculpture has reached its final resting place. The NorthPark Center in Dallas has added the piece featuring the Brooklyn-based artist’s signature Companion figures to their impressive permanent collection that includes Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, Joel Shapiro, Jim Dine, Jonathan Borofsky, James Rosenquist, Antony Gormley, Barry Flanagan and Beverly Pepper, among others. On October 15th, beinArt Gallery in Brunswick, Australia will be hosting a three person show entitled Force of Nature. Previews: Masakatsu Sashie – “External Effect” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Showing concurrently with Glenn Barr’s upcoming solo at Jonathan LeVine Gallery starting October 15th will be an exhibition from Masakatsu Sashie entitled External Effect. The Japanese artist’s work is influenced by the concept of “the balanced aquarium,” described by Nobel Prize winner Konrad Lorenz in his book King Solomon’s Ring: New Light on Animal Ways. To coincide with her show that just opened at Studio Voltaire in London, Jamian Juliano-Villani has also released a new limited edition entitled Is There room for Bruce? The digital pigment print with embossing is sized at 45.7 x 61 cm and produced in a run of 85. Streets: Aryz x SAN Chapel Mural (Spain)

Last month in Zaragoza, Spain, Aryz and his friend SAN (Daniel Muñoz) painted the chapel of an old psychiatric hospital for Festival Asalto. Covering the exterior of the building with their distinctive imagery, the two spanish artists skillfully worked around all the architectural details while creating an intriguing juxtaposition between the new and old world.
