Streets: LX One & Remi/Rough in Strasbourg

Two parts of the Agents of Change collective – LX One and Remi/Rough – were recently in Strasbourg to paint a large wall as part of the 10th anniversary party for French-cool store RZO. The combination of Remi’s abstract work alongside LX’s geometric patterns caught our eyes when we saw some photos of the work like the one above. AM asked Remi about the trip and he sent us a mini-travelogue. Check it out along with some more flicks from LX One after the jump.

Interview: Josh Keyes – “Collision” @ David B. Smith Gallery

The autumn art season has gone into full swing, and one of AM’s most eagerly anticipated exhibitions of 2010 is now just around the corner. Josh Keyes’ “Collision” opens at David B. Smith Gallery in Denver on November 5th. Fill in your diaries, book your flights and do whatever you can to catch this show. We’ve brought you some teaser shots in the run up to this exhibition, including a glimpse at this piece above entitled “Sowers” partially unveiled in Josh’s studio. “Sowers” is Josh’s […]

Releases: ESPO “Superfeen” print

We just came across Stephen Powers aka ESPO’s updated website, First and Fifteenth, this morning and saw that there is a host of back catalog goodness available, such as this ‘Superfeen‘ screenprint on plastic from 2002. They come from an edition of 300, but we assumed they were long sold out. Grab one now, as it looks as ESPO is signing each one with a punchline to the storyboard and a hand drawn image of everyone’s favorite weakest super-hero. The wonderful ‘Handy Signs’ print is […]

Preview: Dan Baldwin – “Works on Paper” @ Ink_d Gallery (Brighton)

Dan Baldwin (interviewed) has been keeping busy since AM last caught up with him at his London solo show with Signal Gallery. This Thursday, October 28th, sees the artist open his latest series of works at Ink_d Gallery in Brighton. Simply entitled “Works on Paper”, this exhibition collects together a series of 12 new works plus a series of 10 screen-prints with individually worked 3D elements. From what Dan tells us of the actual installation of the work, a bold setting is to be expected. […]

Frieze 2010: Marcel Dzama

To continue our focus on some of the most enjoyable elements of the Frieze Art Fair, we were drawn in to a room within David Zwirner’s booth dedicated to an installation of works by Marcel Dzama. A full sized hooded mannequin, complete with rifle, pirouetted in the centre of the room and drew voyeurs into a world of wonder from Dzama. Alongside the kinetic sculpture were a series of intricately detailed dioramas. One can only imagine the amount of time that went into each of […]

Frieze 2010: Mark Ryden

We cherish every opportunity to see Mark Ryden’s work, and when we heard that his new painting entitled “Awakening The Moon” was to be shown at Paul Kasmin’s booth at the Frieze Art Fair, we had to put this on our tick-list. Kasmin brought us a treat at Basel in Miami last year with the wonderful “Incarnation” and this new piece didn’t disappoint either. Check the wonderful details in some of our close up flicks after the jump.

Preview: ‘Pain(t) and Ink’ group show @ Mooch Art, Manchester

We love a little China Mike in our lives, so when AM heard that Mike will be showing in Manchester as part of a group show entitled “Pain(t) and Ink”, opening on the October 23rd, we thought we would let you know. Check out this new piece from him above that seems to be a continuation of the new style of figurative works he recently presented in New York at Bold Hype Gallery. The private view at Mooch Art opens at 6pm on Friday, October […]

Preview: Loreta Sáez Franco – “The Highlights” @ Keep Smiling Gallery (London)

Whilst AM was in London last week, we bumped into Spanish artist and London resident Loreta Sáez Franco at the Frieze Art Fair. She told us of her solo exhibition opening in London this Thursday, October 21st and showed us some images of the work. “The Highlights” are bold colour compositions steeped in the traditions of abstraction and expressionism, and the exhibition also features a series of works the Central St Martins graduate calls her “wallpapers”. These pieces take the form of “The Highlights” artworks and […]

Openings: Nick Walker – “In Gods We Trust” @ Art Sensus

We’re still decompressing a little from all of the art events going on in London over this last week, and one of the highlights was Nick Walker’s opening evening of his new solo exhibition “In Gods We Trust”. We were itching to see where Nick was taking this exhibition after we saw hints of the scale and direction in our recent studio visit. Art Sensus’ spot next to Phillips de Pury was a fitting location for what was evidently a change in scale and also […]
