Openings: ESPO’s Creative Outlet

Last weekend, Steve Powers held an opening event for ESPO’s Creative Outlet, his new store located in downtown Brooklyn. The shop features a wide selection of Powers’ artwork and ephemera, from books and catalogs to prints and paintings on metal. In addition, for the opening, Powers went way back into his archive to offer ESPO brand products from the Street Market era. Last month, we shared with you the collaboration between James Jean (featured) and the BLITZ Lane Crawford Hong Kong. Not only was he launching his OVM line of jewellery and accessories there, there were also a special collection of scarves, pouches and iphone veils has been designed by the gifted painter exclusively for the store (buy them here). Footage has now been released of the MSK-affiliated writer working on facade of the LV Miami Design District store, covering it with his signature urban calligraphy. Tomorrow at noon (Octeber 22nd Eastern time), KAWS will be releasing something for his fans out there to celebrate Halloween. Reprising his collaboration with the popular Snoopy (see 2011), the ceramic jar will be available for approximately $132 on Kawsone. Also, for all those KAWS heads out there, remember the street turned contemporary artist will be participating in another holiday next month in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a 40-foot-long balloon of his companion character. Last week, Casio G-Shock hosted a retrospective for legendary New York graffiti artist Eric Haze (featured). To celebrate their 4th collaboration in 15 years, Casio took a different approach to this showing – they worked with Eric to curate an exhibition that showcases their commercial design work over the past 3 decades.
