Ryan McGinness showed a darker side to his work on Saturday night, when the third installment of his Women: The Blacklight Paintings series opened at The Standard Hotel’s Purple Lounge in West Hollywood. As mentioned in our coverage of The Magician’s Garden in San Francisco last month, Josh Keyes (interviewed) will be releasing a print to coincide with the recent conclusion of the exhibition. Democratically chosen by collectors on his message board with overwhelming support, The Cerberus Project is now in the final stages of production, at a new printing house to correct some of the minor issues with the past couple, with release plans recently being unveiled. As with his last release through POW, Banksy will once again generously use his clout by donating the proceeds from the sale of a new poster to a good cause. Instead of going towards the bail set on imprisoned members of Russian subversive street art collective Voina, the money will go to the Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft, in an effort to help in the wake of the Bristol Tesco riots over the weekend. Recently surfacing with friend and fellow collaborator Ericailcane in Palestra (covered) for the first time since the controversial buffing of his Art in the Streets mural by MOCA themselves, Blu has just released a much anticipated print of one of his strongest street pieces ever.
