Tonight in Atlanta (6-10 pm), Jose Parla will be presenting new works at the High Museum of Art entitled Segmented Realities in conduction with Imagining New Worlds with Wifredo Lam and Fahamu Pecou. Pescou and Parla will respond to the work of Lam, providing their reactionary work based on his life and artistic Legacy. Especially intriguing are these new sculptural pieces from the Brooklyn-based Parla that take his work into the third dimension. SC Gallery in Bilbao, Spain is opening a small group exhibition entitled No + de 30 which will introduce new works by young urban artists Aryz, Axel Void and Sebas Velasco. Openings: Ron English – “Evolutionary Alternatives” @ Tribeca Grand Hotel

Prior to traveling down to Basel Week Miami, Ron English (featured) unveiled a unique installation at the Tribeca Grand Hotel. Entitled Evolutionary Alternatives, this showcase curated by Natalie Kates Projects focused on Ron’s camouflage animal motif and brought it to life in the main concourse of the hotel with life sized sculptures of the deers painted to blend in with the foliage in the lobby. One of the best privately-owned collections in Miami is the de la Cruz Collection, which exhibits pieces from the collection of Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz. Another fair we visited while in Miami was the tenth edition of Aqua. Featuring emerging and mid-career artists, the unique setting was a classic South Beach hotel that opened its rooms to collectors and exhibitors for the duration of Basel Week Miami. British artistic duo Kai and Sunny, who we have been long time followers, recently opened a new solo exhibition in New York at Jonathan LeVine Gallery.
