Releases: Gerhard Richter, P8-P11 editions

Serpentine Galleries and HENI productions recently teamed up for an exclusive series of limited editions by Gerhard Richter. Based on his Flow paintings which were created by capturing poured enamel paints on a glass surface, these editions are chromatographic prints of high-resolution photographs of the originals, mounted on aluminium. The editions are referred to by the artist as “facsimile objects” as this series is distinct from the originals in a number of ways – either the artist has decided to present them differently, or they represent the only version of paintings that no […]

Recap: Kenny Scharf @ Pace Prints

Pace Prints recently unveiled an exhibition of fresh works by New York legend Kenny Scharf. The self-titled show consisted of unique silkscreen prints on which his signature cartoon-like faces were depicted three-dimensionally from painted and sculpted paper pulp. This new technique brings to life another aspect of his classic characters, who already exhibit vivid colors and wild emotions. And to add a little bling to the works, Scharf adorned each with Swarovski crystals in the smiles and eyes. An excellent direction to see from Mr. […]

Preview: Quam Odunsi – “Distinction Without a Difference” @ Design Matters Gallery

Opening on the evening of Nov 20 in Los Angeles is Quam Odunsi’s third solo show with Design Matters Gallery. For this exhibition, the artist explores the logical fallacy of distinction without a difference. For those unfamiliar with the term, it occurs when “an author or speaker attempts to describe a distinction between two things, even though there is, in fact, no actual difference. It is particularly used when a word or phrase has connotations associated with it that one party to an argument prefers […]

Arrested Motion was on hand for the Saturday, November 8th opening of “Momentum”, the three person show featuring Mars-1, Oliver Vernon and Damon Soule  at Space Gallery in Denver, Colorado.  The highlight of the exhibition was a 10′ by 23′ piece that was a collaboration of all three artists (called The Furtherrr Collective when assembled), a piece so large and powerful in texture, color, and size that it feels as if a riff has opened up and the wall has become a worm hole into […]
