Last night, the Honor Fraser Gallery hosted the highly anticipated return (covered) of Brian Donnelly (aka KAWS) to Los Angeles with a show entitled Man’s Best Friend. As implied by the title, Snoopy, along with a cast of familiar characters from Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts series were the focus of the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. On the 4th of September, Die Kunstagentin gallery introduced Maya Hayuk’s latest body of work titled Alles Klar, as well as a large mural at their entrance. The new works further explore her signature technique of woven brush strokes. With her straight, strict lines of thick paint, the NYC-based artist creates trippy colorful patterns which seem to be getting more elaborate. Openings: Ian Francis – “Endless Summer” @ Outsiders

Following his exhibition 10,000 Years From Now at Lazarides Rathbone (covered here) back in 2012, the Bristol-based Ian Francis (featured) has returning to London for a solo exhibition Endless Summer at The Outsiders. Blending photorealism with abstract landscapes, the new body of work features a series of same sized intimate studies that encapsulate a collection of multiple narratives and disparate moments in time. The New York art collectors who can afford the added cost of a commissioned Anish Kapoor sculpture to their living situation may want to consider 56 Leonard by Herzog & de Meuron. The Swiss architecture firm has collaborated with many artists and been associated with many art related projects in the past, and these new luxury condos currently in construction are no less stunning. On September 16th, the Luna Rienne Gallery in San Francisco will play host to the opening for Cosmic Dust, a solo from David Choong Lee. The new body of work will be somewhat of a departure for the locally based artist as he moves away from including portraiture in his imagery. After two years, UK-based artist Adam Neate’s (interviewed) has returned to London with a new solo Dimensionalism at Elms Lester (showing until the 18th of October). Playing with perspective, painted shadows, space and sculptural form, the artist is pushing further his exploration of 3D paintings.
