Releases: Camille Rose Garcia – “The Ghost of G Sharp 7” Print

Later today, January 23rd at 12 noon PST, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be releasing a new print through her online store. Entitled The Ghost of G Sharp 7, the 24″ x 30″ giclee will be produced in a run of 100 with hand applied glitter. Brendan Monroe Paints Facebook Offices

Like Aakash Nihalani (interviewed) did in 2011 (covered) and how David Choe (featured) famously did (and was rewarded handsomely) in the early days, Brendan Monroe (interviewed) was recently invited in to paint part of the Facebook HQ compound. Working on a large wall, the Bay Area-based artist created a topographical mural with the his signature organic and biological infused imagery. From candlelit backrooms to small forest clearings, Incantation sees Roq la Rue Conjuring up a group show based on ritual and mysticism. Occultism is often seen as heretical to mainstream society, but the beliefs and practices are centuries old and firmly rooted in nature and our surroundings. AM recently joined the masses at Robischon Gallery for the January 15th opening of Christian Rex van Minnen’s Golden Memes. The show is a homecoming for the New York-based artist, who brought his grotesque re-imagining of the Dutch Golden Age to Denver. The exhibition includes ten pieces of new work, most large in scale, making the bizarre imagery even more powerful. Last year, during a visit to San Francisco, AM got to visit the studio of artist Ben Venom. His unconventional approach to art making through traditional quiltmaking and embroidery practices first caught our eye a few years ago. Using heavy metal iconography in the form of cut-up t-shirts, Venom plays both hard and soft together by recontextualizing heavy imagery with soft fabrics in the form of quilts.
