Upcoming: “La Familia – 10 Years of Thinkspace”

Coming up on January 10th, Thinkspace in Los Angeles will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary with La Familia, a group exhibition featuring over 100 participants. Each artist will be creating a 10″ x 10″ piece on panel (provided by Trekell) like what Scott Listfield painted above – an intriguing post-apocalyptic look at the Culver City gallery where only their EINE painted roll down door survived. While in town for Basel Week Miami, one of the exhibitions we enjoyed the most was put on by the Library Street Collective near Wynwood Walls. With the new year soon upon us, it looks Colin Christian’s (interviewed) work will be taking a disturbing turn. Fans of the Florida-based artist can see the new direction themselves when Trypophobia opens on January 3rd at the Stephen Romano Gallery in New York. Right after releasing his recent limited edition lithograph (covered), Ludo (interviewed) traveled back to Hong Kong and China, and pasted some fresh works there. China’s most notorious artist and social activist, Ai Weiwei, recently introduced a new public piece created exclusively for the Vancouver Biennale. F Grass is a site specific piece currently exhibited in Harbour Green Park, Vancouver, that is composed of 1328 tufts of iron grass. Totaling 182 square meters, this installation shows letter F, constructed of oversized grass tufts. Art Focus: Pez – “The Magic of Christmas” Series

Pez is Nantes-based artist whose artwork has been greatly influenced by the graffiti and pop culture. Most famous for his recognizable graphite works on paper, his drawings often comment on everyday life, the economy, and icons of pop culture. He recently introduced a small series of drawings on paper forming The Magic of Christmas mini series.
