While in Seattle, we stopped by the Roq La Rue Gallery to check out the newest solo show from Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed). Girls Don’t Cry continues the San Marino-based artist’s series of paintings featuring young girls in precarious fairy-tale like situations, all rendered beautifully in her soft palette and touch. The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, which despite its name is located in Denmark, is currently hosting 40 giant photographs and a number of smaller works created by the world-famous photographer Andreas Gursky. AM was at Tony’s Gallery in Shoreditch on Thursday to see the first UK solo show by Olek (set-up and teaser photos here). The New York-based artist has been making the most of her extended London visit, transforming the ground floor of the gallery into a domestic setting filled with crocheted furniture and other household items. In about a month, post-industrial Rococo master Kris Kuksi will be bringing his dark and intricate assemblages to New York for his latest solo exhibition. Entitled Triumph, the return showing (last time was in 2009 not counting art fairs) at the Joshua Liner Gallery will include the piece seen above, The Surrender of Helios. Conjoined II, a followup to last year’s successful debut as a group show, recently opened at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Once again, Chet Zar’s (interviewed) was tapped to bring together a selection of sculptural work from his friends and peers, which mostly focused on objects of the bizarre, fantastic, and surreal. Perhaps the pieces that received the most attention were these two eerie 3D renderings by Kevin Kirkpatrick of Beavis and Butt-head. More photos by Richard Brooks for Arrested Motion after the jump…

We are AM are pretty excited about the prospects of attending David Shrigley’s first major survey exhibition in the UK, entitled Brain Activity, opening this Wednesday at the Hayward Gallery in London. Globetrotting Ukranian duo, Interesni Kazki, who just had a solo showing in Los Angeles (covered), have apparently made their way over to India for some fun. Ron English – Barack Obama x Hulk & Fat Tony Sculpt

Playing to his strengths of appropriating pop culture for his own unique creations, Ron English (featured) has recently revealed two projects he has been working on. The first is the melding of Barack Obama and The Incredible Hulk into one amazing sculpt although we aren’t quite sure what the message is.
