We recently brought you a look at artists at work on the Urban Nation’s Project M/4 in Berlin, curated by Thinkspace. Participants including Andrew Schoultz, C215, Curiot, Fernando Chamarelli, Glenn Barr, Joao Ruas, Low Bros, Nosego, Word To Mother, Alexis Diaz (aka La Pandilla), Karl Addison, and Dabs Myla were asked to create large window murals as well as working on the facade of the building. Streets: DALeast (Belgium)

DALeast has been having a quiet year focusing more on his studio work, traveling less and doing less street works. But recently, he took part in the Day One Festival in Roeselare, Belgium, organized by Street Art Belgium, by creating this massive piece on the docks. The Chinese-born artist painted this large image showing six human figures moving a large mountain. Streets: COPE2 – Bowery & Houston Mural

Last week, the iconic corner of Bowery & Houston in New York saw a new mural take shape as COPE2 took over the location. Featuring his well known bubble tags and associated graf elements, the wall was soon filled with letterings from the NYC writer on a richly textured background. Banksy’s Webby Awards Acceptance Video

Last week, the 18th annual Webby Awards named Banksy the Person of the Year in a surprise move. Of course, the elusive street artist was not on hand to accept the distinction awarded for excellence on the internet. The honor accorded Mr. B was a testimony to how well-known his art has become and how skillfully he is able to manage his online presence. Recap: artMRKT San Francisco

Last week, Bay Area art fans saw the annual Art Market San Francisco come through town. The international art fair held at the Festival Pavilion – Fort Mason Center had galleries, artists, and collectors alike taking advantage of the one week of the year where art was in especially in focus in SF. Alice Gallery in Brussels recently opened a big group show entitled Just Before Brazil. The idea was to showcase the artists they invited to the Asphalte festival in Charleroi and to share with the world their works before everyone’s attention gets focused on Brazil and football. POW! WOW! Hawaii Sacred Canoe Hokulea Project

Right after setting up the Taiwan event (introduced), the POW! WOW! Hawaii family got back to work taking part in an interesting project with The Polynesian Voyaging Society in Honolulu. What they put together was focused on the sacred canoe Hokulea on which legendary lifeguard and surfer Eddie Aikau lost his life while trying to get help for his friends between the Hawaiian and Tahitian island chains. As we mentioned last week, the Thinkspace Gallery curating a show entitled LAX / TXL as part of the fourth stage of a project by Urban Nation. Along with this group exhibition, some artists have been recruited to create 10×10 foot window murals including Alexis Diaz (aka La Pandilla) – seen above, Andrew Schoultz, C215, Curiot, Fernando Chamarelli, Glenn Barr, Joao Ruas, Low Bros, Nosego, Word To Mother, plus a massive full building mural from Dabs Myla. Howard Griffin Gallery recently continued its busy 2014 schedule by opening a solo show by Pablo Delgado. The Mexico-born artist is a well known figure in the London street art scene due to the recognizable miniature works that he’s been creating around the city for years.
