Update: Conor Harrington

It looks like the Lazarides Gallery recently stopped by Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) studio to check in on the UK-based painter. What they saw was some amazing new works in progress for his upcoming debut show in New York later this year, presumably a pop up put on by the London-based gallery. Entitled Eat and Delete, the exhibition will include 10-12 large canvases that continues where the Irish artist’s Dead Meat show in London (covered) left off. Take a look at more photos below… Discuss Conor Harrington here.

Streets: Liqen (Italy)

Spanish artist Liqen, was recently in San Basillio in Rome, Italy, contributing to the ongoing Sanba festival by creating two impressive murals in town. Known for his detailed illustrative technique, and meaningful images, the first wall he painted has a very strong social message. Based on one of his recent ink drawings, recently shared online, the first piece features a huge rake plowing the ground, cleansing it of everything man-made and allowing nature to take over. Being in Italy, the home of the Roman empire, street muralist added […]

Spanish artist Pejac whose diverse works we introduced recently (Art Focus), just announced a release of his limited edition print. The large image titled Sepukku is features a silhouette of a Japanese samurai, performing Seppuku or Hara-Kiri, a form of ritual suicide by disembowelment, by using a Sakura branch (cherry blossoms). By combining the blooming flowers as a symbol of spring […]

Frieze Week NYC ’14: PULSE

Once considered a top satellite fair for emerging to mid-career artists, PULSE lost some of that reputation in recent years, as many of its exhibitors jumped ship to other competing fairs. However, at the beginning of 2014, PULSE took on a new director tasked with bringing it back to its former status. And the difference was somewhat visible last week, as PULSE New York emerged with a smaller, more highly curated show. Amongst the booths, there were a few standouts worth mentioning, such as works […]

Streets / World Tour: Ludo in Tokyo (Part II)

After a few days in Thailand (covered) and few days in Japan, Ludo (interviewed) has finished up his Asian tour recently. But before leaving Tokyo, he managed to put up couple of more pasters around the city, including this impressive double piece on a 6x6meter wall in the middle of Shibuya. Inspired by Asian culture and tradition as well as the Japanese high tech lifestyle, the works by the Paris-based artist fit the surroundings very well. His animals and plants morphing into weapons, machines and symbols of pop culture […]
