Streets: Nunca (Los Angeles)

Over the weekend, Brazilian artist Nunca finally finished a mural he has been working on all week in the heart of Los Angeles for the TARFEST Music and Art Festival. The massive piece (arranged by Merry Karnowsky Gallery & Launch Gallery) features imagery quite appropriate for the location with a series of paparazzi figures painted in the street artist’s distinctive style. Australian artist duo Dabs Myla, opened their latest solo show on the 17th of August at White Walls Gallery in SF (previewed). With the concept being more of “an intimate installation” than just a show, the artists turned part of a gallery into an immersive experience. The Wooster Collective recently celebrated their 10th anniversary of existence with a massive show at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Streets: INSA for The Vaford Gates (Hong Kong)

Earlier this month, the UK-based INSA returned to Hong Kong for a set of murals at The Vaford Gates in Chai Wan. If you remember, the street artist know for his heel motifs had a show in the city-state in 2011 at the Above Second Gallery. The project at this former old factory building location plans to feature a rotating cast of local and international artist so we’ll be sure to see more action soon… Discuss INSA here.

Preview: KAWS for MTV VMA’s

With this year’s Video Music Awards from MTV only several days away, installation has already started for the event. As mentioned when news first broke of KAWS’ involvement with the design of the special 30th installment of the award show, held in Brooklyn for the first time, there was going to be a a 60-foot Moonman (this year’s prize also remixed with the Brooklyn-based artist’s design) on stage, his tallest Companion ever. Last Thursday marked the official launch of Hennessy’s latest VS Cognac bottle created by famed Brazilian artists Os Gemeos (featured). This marks their third successful artist collaboration following up previous designs by esteemed artists Futura (covered) & KAWS (covered). Streets: The London Police (Kentucky)

Recently, The London Police paid a visit to Covington, Kentucky for a public works project arranged by the BLDG gallery. The duo painted their iconic LADS characters alongside buildings and inside local business, leaving a trail of art for fans to follow. After opening his show at Honor Fraser (covered) in Los Angeles as well as painting on the cars of his lucky fans in the area, Kenny Scharf (interviewed) returned to New York where he continued improving vehicles with his signature imagery. He seems to get around, as he was back in the City of Angels last week to create a new mural (arranged by Branded Arts) in Culver City.
