Teaser: Vhils @ 18 Gallery (Shanghai)

It looks like Vhils (filmed) has been putting in work in Shanghai as he prepares for his show opening on March 31st at 18 Gallery (presented by Magda Danysz). Like JR before him, he’ll be introducing some of that European street aesthetic to the Chinese port city. Previews: F*CK Art @ Museum of Sex

Opening tonight in New York is a special group show put together by the Museum of Sex. This provocative showing features 20 street artists including Mode2, Aiko, Rostarr, Miss Van, and Lush as they occupy the building with works that further push the boundaries of their viewpoints of sexuality and relationships (some more subtle than others). Over the weekend, the Merry Karnowsky gallery held an impressive exhibition showcasing new work of four very talented female artists – Aiko, Deedee Cheriel, Lindsey Way and Tara Mcpherson. Each artist brought forth a unique collection of art that showcased their individual styles which had a completely different feel when compared to the next. Streets: Retna (Los Angeles)

Even though he’s currently preparing for a show at Known Gallery this upcoming weekend with fellow 7th letter member ZES, RETNA took the time to hit the streets of Los Angeles again. Streets: Shepard Fairey (Dallas)

Last week, Shepard Fairey (featured) brought the OBEY show to Dallas for a series of street murals at the request of the Dallas Contemporary. In conjunction with the project, the institution which is modeled after European kunsthalles or art centers also hosted PHENOMENON, a party with Shep providing the music as DJ Diabetic. RETNA for Metropolitan Hotel

Notorious Los Angeles writer RETNA (featured), who we saw go all in for the Boneyard Project in Arizona, recently also released photos of some work he did in the garage of the Metropolitan Hotel. Repping his crew with his signature calligraphy, you can see the words As We Rise, Mad Society Kings, and The Seventh Letter in the background.
