Last Wednesday during Christie’s Post War & Contemporary Art sale in London, a historic Banksy canvas came very close to tripling its high estimate of £50,000. After gifting his homeland three cowboy themed murals back in June (here, here, and here), it looks like Conor Harrington (interviewed) has returned to Ireland for another wall. This time, he hits up Dublin with a large new piece entitled Dead Meat, painted for this year’s Dublin Contemporary. For those in London, look for Conor’s work for Lazarides’ minotaur themed event in the Old Vic Tunnels coming up next month. More photos of this mural after the jump…

On the first of October, the Carmichael Gallery will welcome father and son duo, Eriberto and Estevan Oriol, to Culver City for an exhibition together. AM recently attended the star studded charity art show Made In Polaroid held at Phillips de Pury. The benefit was a one night auction that featured 50 works created by the 50-50-50 project using Polaroid’s mobile printer. All proceeds went to support Free Arts NYC. Over the weekend, Subliminal Projects brought in a power trio of graffiti legends in their show titled Three Kings. Featuring the work of Fab 5 Freddy, Futura 2000 and Lee Quinones, the show brought in writers who each have a different and unique style. Over the weekend, the Known Gallery hosted the show entitled New Mathematics. Featuring the work of New York graffiti legend Eric Haze, the exhibition centered around a collection of artwork filled with geometric lines and patterns which give way to both abstract shapes and an aura of cubism. The show featured over 35 different paintings that were carefully detailed against a variety of black, white and gray canvases.
