Streets: D*Face (Los Angeles) – Part II

Reminiscent of the Zombie Oscar Statues he installed in Runyon Canyon and in the parking lot of the famous Mel’s Drive-In in Hollywood in 2010, D*Face (featured) placed a custom tombstone early this morning at the Charlie Sheen star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Make sure you stop by on Saturday night at the Corey Helford Gallery to check out his new body of work entitled Going Nowhere Fast (for a preview, see our studio visit) and also to enjoy the mural he painted […]

Charity: Benefit Art Auction @ TT-Underground

Last Saturday, TT-Underground Gallery in New York City hosted the opening of the “Benefit Art Auction” to display works of art to be put on on eBay (here), with 100% of the proceeds going to the Japan Red Cross and GlobalGiving to aid those effected by the recent tsunami and earthquake in Japan. The evening included a live painting session by Lamour Supreme and Greg Mishka, as well as a ticket raffle with the proceeds going to the Japan Red Cross. A few highlights of […]

Publications: ‘Cement Eclipses’ by Isaac Cordal

Isaac Cordal has a pretty unique take on street art and after seeing his work online for a while, AM recently came across some of his concrete sculptures whilst wandering around the streets of London late at night with a group of friends in Brick Lane. One of our party, who shall not be named, found out the hard way that the little concrete guys are meant to stay in their surroundings rather than being taken for home consumption, as Isaac uses a high strength […]

Streets / Teaser: ROA – “New Works” @ White Walls

Take a look at this complex piece from ROA from back in February at Unit44 entitled The Four Horses Of The Apocalypse.  The mural was painted for the White Walls project in Newcastle which is a coincidence because the Belgium-based artist will be opening a show this Saturday night, April 9th, at the White Walls gallery in San Francisco. This sweet stack of animals and skeletons was the first time the prolific street artist has incorporated color into one of his walls, so it will […]

Openings: Patrick Martinez – “Hustlemania” @ Known Gallery

Patrick Martinez recently opened his newest series of works entitled Hustlemania at LA’s Known Gallery. Patrick draws our attention to the everyday things that most may not think is conventionally beautiful. Using his environment as inspiration, he often focuses on the phenomenology of his surroundings to peak the interest of his audience. Exhibiting in the heart of Los Angeles’ Fairfax district, it looks like Patrick figured out a way to meld the hustle and flow from the City of Angels with the gallery world of […]

Streets: D*Face (Los Angeles) – Part I

We stopped by Culver City today to check out the near complete mural D*Face (featured) is painting on the side of the Corey Helford Gallery, site of his new show, Going Nowhere Fast, opening this Saturday night.  As you can see, D is exploring melding his imagery with elements of Lichtenstein’s work, which we also saw in our earlier studio visit. We will certainly be looking forward to seeing more of this fresh new direction at the opening and you can also expect more coverage […]

Openings: Lucas Price – ‘The Friends of Tony Romanoff’ @ Pure Evil Gallery

It was said that The Friends of Tony Romanoff was to be curated by Lucas Price, but the intriguing press release we read for this show was so ambiguous that AM didn’t quite know what to expect. The exhibition, which opened last Thursday, as we kind of expected, turned out to be a collection of new work authored solely by Lucas. Pure Evil Gallery played host to the exhibition, which was a refreshing change to see Lucas’ more contemporary side emerging, based around mixed media […]

Openings: Agnès B – Howard St. “Galerie Boutique” Launch & Exhibition

Last week AM attended dual receptions to celebrate the launch of Agnès B’s Howard St. flagship store  in New York’s SoHo district. The dazzling concept space will be known as  “Galerie Boutique” which also serves as a gallery to exhibit some of legendary designer’s favorite artists. The launch events took place over two nights and drew numerous notables from the fashion and art scene. A long time patron of the arts, Agnès has supported many of the artists we’ve all come to love and this inaugural […]

Studio Visits: D*Face

D*Face is currently putting the final touches to a whole new body of work for his US West Coast debut solo show Going Nowhere Fast opening on April 9th at Corey Helford Gallery’s Culver City spot. AM has been anticipating what Face would come up with for this show, as he always turns up the heat for solo exhibitions and brings in new themes. We went along to his studio recently to see how the work was coming together and grabbed a few shots of […]
