Releases: Mobstr x Karborn – “HUH?” Anti Gravity Sculpture

Mobstr (interviewed) and Karborn recently collaborated on an intriguing new sculptural edition (unfortunately sold out). The set combined one of Mobstr’s most recognized reoccuring text based public works and Karborn’s anonymous figures. The HUH? release was in an edition of 10, with each letter measuring approximately 8 x 10 cm and featuring some “anti gravity” effects (seen in video here). ⁣ Discuss Mobstr here.

Streets: DALeast (New York)

Last month in New York, DALeast (interviewed) completed a piece for the The L.I.S.A Project NYC that really utilizes to great effect the unique style of mural making that he is known for. Featuring a frenetic amalgamation of kinetic strokes, the wall pops with contrasts between the paint and the brick wall as well as the blue and reds while highlighting the Chinese-born artist’s continued focus on wildlife. Previews: “15 Year Anniversary Show” @ Thinkspace Gallery

A lot have galleries have come and go in the last 15 years in our niche of the art world, but one constant has been the Thinkspace family. Tirelessly promoting their artists with shows at their Culver City location, with collaborative exhibitions with different galleries nationally and internationally, with participation in art fairs around the world, by plugging their artists into mural projects and street art festivals, and perhaps most importantly by garnering institutional support, the gallery has become one the most prominent leaders in […]

Streets: Invader (Djerba)

Timed perfectly with the release of Episode IX of Star Wars, French artist Invader recently revealed his first invasion of Djerba. Out of the of 58 pieces he put up on the Tunisian island, several movie-themed mosaics referenced the fact that the first film had a few scenes filmed there. Adding to the nostalgia was the fact infamous street artist was able to hunt down and get up pieces on the actual house where the Star Wars scene with the bar full of aliens was shot where […]

Streets: Banksy (Birmingham, UK)

Just in time for the holiday season, Banksy recently unveiled a new piece highlighting the plight of the homeless. Created in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, UK, the wall was introduced in a video by the elusive street artist on his Instagram featuring what looks to be a homeless man laying down on a bench pulled by stenciled reindeer (like Santa Claus). Take a look at more photos and the video below… Photo credit: @mrlkdds, jackmobley, SNAPPERSK, Discuss Banksy here. View this post on Instagram . God […]

Streets: Invader (Paris)

Recently in Paris, Invader revealed the largest version of his infamous space invader ever made at Place Stravinsky, just by the Centre Pompidou. Installed on the side of a building that also features the work of Shepard Fairey and Jef Aerosol, this piece from the French artist is his most ambitious mosaic to date. Take look at more photos of the work below… Photo credit: @otaku_san and the artist. Discuss Invader here.

Basel Week Miami ’19 / Recap: Art Basel

Earlier this week, the 18th edition of Art Basel Miami opened at the Miami Beach Convention Center with 269 galleries, offering artwork by mostly blue chip artists from around the world. Drawing visitors in for the beautiful (albeit chillier than usual this year) weather and gathering of friends and associates, an almost unending selection of paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film, video, and digital art greeted their eyes (and wallets) as they perused the main fair. Highlights for us included this Austin Lee sculpture (seen above) at the Peres Projects […]

Showing: Remi Rough – ‘Air Miles and Mechanised High-Tech Graffiti Style’ @ WallWorks

British artist Remi Rough (featured) just opened his first New York solo at WallWorks Gallery in the Bronx. Running until December 13, 2019, Air Miles and Mechanised High-Tech Graffiti Style features new works along with a site-specific installation with Rough’s signature abstract geometric style and use of line and color. The exhibition’s title is an ode to Zephyr’s exhibition at FUN Gallery in New York—an inspirational figure for the British artist. But it also encompasses a literal translation of the show – flying from London to the Bronx […]

Studio Visit: DALeast

A couple of weeks ago, we had the privilege to peek inside DALeast’s (interviewed) studio in Berlin as he was preparing the new works for his upcoming solo show which opens on 2nd of November at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York. For his first gallery presentation on the East Coast in over five years, the Chinese-born artist is preparing a selection of works created with different techniques and mediums. We’ve been following the career of DAL for almost a full decade now and we’ve always had a weak […]

Showing: Mr Jago – ‘Rewild’ @ Unit London

Mr Jago’s third solo show at Unit London, entitled Rewild, draws to a close this weekend following a four week run at the Mayfair gallery. The exhibition’s title references the practice of reintroducing keystone species and replanting a landscape’s flora as a mechanism for restoring an ecosystem’s resilience and helping to address more globalized environmental problems. To be properly understood, the exhibition has to be read both as part of the lineal development of the Bristol-based artist’s practice and also within the much wider context of […]
