Coinciding with the start of Basel Week Switzerland, an exclusive opening night on June 12th was held for KAWS’ latest solo showing. Three years since his debut show with the gallery (covered), the New York-based artist is back in Giswil for another exclusive showcase with More Gallery. After almost six years silence from solo shows, broken only with an unusual, performance art exhibition at POW in London (covered), Adda Gallery in Brussels recently opened the long awaited exhibition by Dran. The French artist has put on display his latest paintings and unpublished drawings from 2015 to 2016 in a big comeback titled Tiens. Showing: Boris “Delta” Tellegan @ Rose Beton Festival

With the focus of the Rose Beton Festival in Toulouse this year on graffiti, artists Craig Costello, Futura, Mist, Tilt, and Boris Tellegen were asked to create installations at the Musee des Abattoirs in an exhibition entitled EPOXY. For his part, Tellegen (otherwise known as DELTA), contributed a sculpture, small painting and associated wall mural for the event. The highlight of course was the robot like sculpture, created in the architecturally-informed abstract style the Dutch artist perfected on the streets of Amsterdam. Last week in Tennessee, Mars-1 (featured) & Curiot decided to work on a mural together for the Nashville Walls Project. Located at the new Nashville Sounds Baseball Park and sponsored by Gibson Custom Division, the new piece sees Curiot adapt his style to mesh nicely with Martinez’s organic otherworldly imagery. They had met briefly before Nashville, but had never worked together but based on this result, they should definitely consider more collaborations in the future. Along with peeks at the new 8 meter tall sculpture from KAWS to be unveiled soon in Thailand, fans of the Brooklyn-based artist are also excited to see a new product line release. The project at Central Embassy in Bangkok, produced with the help of curator AllRightsReserved, will feature a new character called BFF that looks to be a mix between Elmo and the Cookie Monster with the artist’s distinctive double X’s for eyes. Recently in Honolulu, Kamea Hadar unveiled a mural honoring Barack Obama, a former resident of Hawaii, for his service as the 44th President of the United States. The locally-based painter and also co-lead director of POW! WOW! Hawaii, entitled the mural Hapa, a reference to both the POTUS and artist’s mixed heritage. After a series of public interventions the last few years in China, Ludo returned once again to Far East to work on more pieces for his Ephemera project. This time, he is collaborating with non-profit organization called Tencent Foundation and its major media company Tencent QQ.
