Streets: Judith Supine (Los Angeles)

It looks like Judith Supine was recently in Los Angeles for a visit. While in town, he took time to throw up several of his signature “green skinned” collaged pieces including one that was put in New Image Art’s show (covered) in Miami for Art Basel Week. The Details Guild is an organization that works with leading artists to broaden community interaction with art through public installations, art education and mentoring programs. A while back, we posted up some photos of a mural El Mac painted for the Seres Queridos project in Mexico. The street artist, known for his signature striation and large-scale murals recently shared new photos of another piece from the same series based on Manuel Lee Chang, known locally as “el Chino”(despite the fact that he’s of Korean descent) with his Guacamaya (Macaw). Studio Visit/Preview: Dennis McNett

AM paid a visit to Dennis McNett’s studio while he was finishing up work for his show Reaping Waves and Vital Vessels, opening this Thursday at Joshua Liner Gallery. The space was packed with linocut and woodcut printed paper and hand-painted wood carvings, and McNett described his grand plans for filling the entire gallery with individual works and large-scale installations assembled from the various pieces. Streets: Blu for Los Angeles MOCA (Buffed)

If you blinked, you would have missed Blu’s newest mural in Los Angeles. Invited to by the MOCA to paint a wall ahead of it’s highly anticipated “Art in the Streets” exhibition in April, the museum apparently had forgotten that the Italian street sensation made his name making pointed political statements with his large-scale work, often site-specific and aimed directly at the local governments and/or corporations. This Saturday, December 11th (7pm), Kid Zoom is having his first ever US solo at a pop-up space (72 Gansevoort St. New York, NY 10014) in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district.
