Streets: D*Face – Urban Interventions

Many of us were amazed at the work that London urban artist D*Face churned out for his show at Jonathan Levine this past weekend (covered). But what you may not have experienced is the wacky D*Face “Urban Interventions” that he leaves in his path when he decides to “hit the streets.” AM went around NYC to catch D*Face’s freshly painted murals in the Meat Packing district, right around the corner from the Standard Hotel. What’s cooler is that it’s right across from the kickass mural […]

We recently had the chance to have a brief chat with Kris Lewis regarding his recent show at David B. Smith Gallery. Topics included themes in his works, his influences and inspirations, and the use of symbolism. We were also tipped off about the soon release of one of the paintings “White Flag” from the show as a print (seen after the jump).

Interviews/Preview: Dan Baldwin – “Disillusion” @ Carmichael Gallery

Over the past few years Dan Baldwin has established himself as one of the notable artists in the UK’s new contemporary art scene. A distinct voice in a landscape full of artists whose works are often too similar to distinguish, Dan has proven himself to be fresh and somewhat unique. It’s great to see him traveling to the US for his first solo exhibition, “Disillusion,” opening Thursday, September 10 at Carmichael Gallery in Los Angeles. AM sat down for a chat with the man himself. […]

Interviews / Studio Visits: D*Face

D*Face is undoubtedly one of the most important artists working within the realms of street art today. His bold compositions and daring outdoor work continues to push the boundaries to new levels. AM was lucky to be invited into D’s studio to carry out an interview with the man himself, just ahead of him flying out to New York for his much anticipated solo show at Jonathan Levine Gallery “Ludovico Aversion Therapy / All Your Dreams Belong To Us” (teased). Taking part of it’s name […]

Studio Visits/Preview: Eric White – “LP” @ Sloan Fine Art

Last week, AM had the opportunity to drop by Eric White’s Brooklyn studio, and got a sneak peak of his space and some of the work for his upcoming exhibit “LP,” opening at Sloan Fine Art Sept. 12. As the title implies, the show will consist of White’s interpretations of classic album covers—more specifically, those from before 1983, the year when he got his first CD player. At first glance, the 12″ paintings often look exactly like record sleeves from Fleetwood Mac, Talking Heads, Pink […]
