Studio Visits / Previews: Cyrcle. – “Nothing Exists” @ Station16 Gallery

Coming up in a few weeks, the Cyrcle. (featured) crew will be opening a new show at the Station16 Gallery in Montreal. It looks like Rabz & Davey’s artistic journey has taken a philosophical turn with this new batch of work collectively entitled Nothing Exists. When AM arrived at Shawn Huckins‘ studio in Denver’s trendy Lowry district, the paintings were finished, the oil dry and most already packed up and ready to send across town to Goodwin Fine Art for his solo show entitled American_tier opening April 17th (stay tuned for opening night coverage). AM recently had the chance to peek inside Meguru Yamaguchi’s studio in Brooklyn as he was preparing a new body of work, which will be shown at Reed Space starting March 26th. Leading up to her current showing at Narwhal Contemporary in Toronto, we stopped by the studio of Junko Mizuno in San Francisco to learn more about her work environment and to see some of the works in progress. Tonight at Honor Fraser Gallery, Kenny Scharf (interviewed) will be presenting his latest solo exhibition to his fans in Los Angeles. The new showing promises to be a diverse one, ranging from a fresh set of paintings, a selection of rarely shown early videos and collage, to his never exhibited before assemblages. While preparing for his next big solo at Gallery Wendi Norris in San Francisco, Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) recently hosted a studio visit from prolific art patron Swizz Beatz. Jose Parla Studio By Snøhetta

It looks like the Norway-based company Snøhetta recently designed and oversaw the renovation of an expansive new studio for Jose Parla. The former Brooklyn warehouse was divided into two sections – “the arena” and “the nest.” The first is a double-height workspace for the NY-based artist’s increasingly large projects (see Barclays Center & One World Trade Center), while the other is an elevated lounge space that overlooks the other.
