Last week, New York artist Rostarr (featured) unveiled his latest body of work in Mexico City at Anonymous Gallery. This inspiring series of paintings entitled Turbo Arena draws from his hypnotic signature style that is a smooth mash-up of iconography, graphics & calligraphy. Openings: David Choong Lee – “Organic Updates” @ 111 Minna

Last week, AM decided stroll by 111 Minna Gallery to check out David Choong Lee’s latest effort, Organic Updates (previewed), which features a series of large clusters consisting of wood panels of painting, graffiti and collage, that are arranged to give the work a massive organic feel. I forgot to ask if purchase comes with a diagram for installation (maybe David is willing to consult via Skype). Preview / Setup: JR @ Watarium Museum (Tokyo)

If you remember, late last year, we shared with you some photos of JR touring Japan to spread his Inside Out love in his giant photo booth / converted truck. Turns out, that was only a precursor for a show opening officially this weekend at the Watarium Museum in Tokyo. As you can see from these preview images, the French “photograffeur” is already busy prepping the outside and inside of the institution with his distinctive work. Photos via Alabaz and the artist. Last week, How & Nosm brought their outdoor graffiti talents from the streets into Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s brand new pop-up space in the heart of Chelsea. The Metro Gallery in Melbourne very recently hosted the opening reception for Dabs Myla’s latest solo show – All Good Things… Along with paintings featuring the whimsical cartoonish characters which are often seen in their outdoor work, the duo also transformed the space with wall murals and installations (a regular occurrence for those familiar with their exhibitions). Opening tonight (February 1st) in San Francisco at the 111 Minna Gallery will be a new showing from David Choong Lee. We last witnessed a large body of work (covered) from the SF-based artist back in 2010 in Los Angeles, and in comparison, this new exhibition Organic Updates will also feature more clusters and wall installations created with elements of graffiti, collage, and painting. Openings: Haroshi – “Virtual Reality” @ Jonathan LeVine

This past weekend, Japanese artist Haroshi debuted a new body of works at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Virtual Reality, this exhibition is the second in the Big Apple by the sculptor known for utilizing used skate decks as his source material.
