Preview: David Flores x Phil Stern @ The Phil Stern Gallery

Tomorrow night, December 8th, the Phil Stern Gallery will debut a new exhibit by award-winning photographer Phil Stern and artist David Flores. If you remember a few months back, Flores painted a mural in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles based on a James Dean photograph shot by the Stern (covered). Basel Week Miami ’11: Scope

One of the satellite fairs we attended during Art Basel Week Miami was Scope. Housing a variety of genres, we saw a healthy mix of street art, low brow and emerging contemporary art working together as gallerists brought work from artists which you may be familiar with. From OsGemeos to Roa, Ron English to Ray Caesar, Aakash Nihalani to Jenny Morgan, there seemed to be something for everyone at this fair. Check out more photos after the jump.

For his first London exhibition at Alison Jacques Gallery since the celebrated Moonmilk series over two years ago, Ryan McGinley has assembled seven new photographs, all in the largest format the American artist has yet worked in. Wandering Comma features photographs harmoniously balancing the orchestrated and the unpredictable, the staged and the spontaneous. Although the images begin with choreographed scenarios, the images that result are never wholly pre-meditated leaving their own freedom and initiative to the models or situation. Running through Thursday, December 22nd, Wandering Comma is a must-see show for anyone in and around the London area. […]
