Currently showing at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum is a major exhibition from gunpowder artist extraordinaire Cai Guo Qiang. As you can see in the video above, Qiang demonstrated his explosive technique by creating some of his signature pieces (also seen in the “Stages” show) in person. On a return trip to take in Kris Kuksi’s show “Beast Anthology” (covered) at Joshua Liner Gallery, we decided to take a quick video of one of the pieces to give you a better perspective of how incredibly detailed his work is. Basel Week Miami ’09 – Gladstone Gallery

Gladstone Gallery, one of the most prestigious galleries in the United States, led by Barbara Gladstone, probably the second most famous art dealer next to Larry Gagosian, had a power-packed booth at Art Basel. It featured photographs, paintings, and sculptures by some of the best artists in world, including Richard Prince, Anish Kapoor, and Elizabeth Peyton. See more images from the booth after the jump…

The AM crew stopped by the SCOPE Fair to take a look at the geometric paper sculptures by Jen Stark during Art Basel Week. The Miami-based artist was showing off her eye-catching pieces of what appear to be precise paper cutouts at the Carol Jazzar Gallery booth. Basel Week Miami ’09 – Dan Attoe @ Peres Projects

Less than a month after Dan Attoe‘s highly successful solo exhibition, I’m Done Worryin’ About Shit, at Peres Projects in Los Angeles came to a close, the gallery featured the artist in a solo show at Art Basel Miami. The show consisted of Attoe’s meticulously rendered paintings and large-scale, highly illuminated neon sculptures. It certainly was one of the most spectacular booths at Basel’s Art Nova section. Koons Train Derailed

The Jeff Koons – LACMA $25 million train project previously reported here appears to have hit a snag on the rails, err road. The idea may have sounded great several years ago, but with the current economic climate and in light of the decline of museum’s investment portfolio and donations, the project has been delayed and may be shelved completely. Amongst the many things we’ve seen over in Miami this year, perhaps the most talked about piece of work (certainly between the AM crew and our friends out here) was an previously unsold Barry McGee’s “99 bottle” installation over at Deitch Projects booth at Art Basel.
