Showing: Saner (Edgar Flores) – “Resistencia/Resistance” @ Museo De Las Americas

On June 23rd, Museo De Las Americas in Denver, Colorado, opened the first US museum solo show by Saner (Edgar Flores). Staying on view for 3 months, Resistencia/Resistance introduces the different styles of work that the Mexican artist has been known for – from murals, paintings, to large detailed and smaller, almost abstract drawings. Featuring many traditional elements, dominated by the recognizable Mexican masks, Saner likes to stage ancient scenarios in modern day settings. The masks symbolize modern life and the many faces or roles that people have due to […]

Releases: Liu Bolin – “Hidden in the City: the Louvre Pyramid (with JR)” Print

In May, we shared with you the amazing takeover by JR (interviewed) at the famous Louvre in Paris where he pasted over the iconic pyramid using photographs of the surrounding structures. Looking at the right angle, it appeared that the pyramid in the main courtyard “disappears” from sight. Who better to collaborate with next in an inception-like project than with China’s disappearing man – Liu Bolin? With both the French and Chinese artist painted over, the two friends (see 2012 collaboration) blended in with the already camoflauged pyramid behind them. This intriguing […]

Streets: JR @ The Louvre (Part II)

After a first look at a new intervention at the Louvre from JR (interviewed) earlier this week, here are photos of the completed project. Pasting over the iconic pyramid in his signature technique was a time-consuming undertaking, but the impressive result is a testament to the French street artist’s artistic vision. Along with this “disappearance” trick, the TED winning artist will also be taking over the museum with conferences, masterclass, screenings, concerts, workshops on May 28th starting at 3pm. He further explains the project – “I will never forget this […]

Streets: JR @ The Louvre (Part I)

Over the last week, JR (interviewed) has been working on his latest high profile project – painting the iconic pyramid at the Louvre. The plan is to paste for the French “photograffeur” to paste a photo over the glass structure mimicking the building behind, leading to it “disappearing” from sight. He further explains – “I will never forget this day. Today I’m going to make the Louvre Pyramid disappear. It’s quite crazy being Parisian, passing the pyramid so often, then today realising I can make changes to it […]
