AM favorite Lisa Yuskavage is currently exhibiting at London’s Greengrassi Gallery. The New York based artist comes at us with another collection of dazzling works featuring her ever sultry figures of women in their natural state. What’s really cool is that she’s continuing to create smaller works to compliment the larger canvases which already run a pretty penny (hundreds of thousands), much like this gem we saw at David Zwirner from last year’s Art Basel Miami. Behind the Scenes: Logan Hicks @ Galerie Itinerrance

Logan Hicks (interviewed) recently opened his solo show in Paris with the good people at Galerie Itinerrance, who were nice enough to send over some behind the scenes pics leading up to the opening. Not only is Logan known as one of the most skillful stencil artists out there, but he is also behind alot of the street events out there as an organizer, promoter, and all around glue guy in the scene – not to mention the best beard in the business. Openings: Yoskay Yamamoto – “Familiar Strangers” @ Lebasse Projects

This past Saturday saw the opening of Yoskay Yamamoto’s (featured) exhibition “Familiar Strangers”. It is the third solo show by the artist at LeBasse Projects and features a diverse range of work, including paintings on panel and canvas, sculptures made of cast resin and metal, and hand carved wood sculptures. The well-attended opening included artist friends Audrey Kawasaki, Luke Chueh, Edwin Ushiro, Nate Frizzell, and Bumblebee. More after the jump…

Openings: Ana Bagayan – “Flutter” @ Mondo Bizzarro Gallery, Rome

Currently showing at Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Rome is “Flutter”, Ana Bagayan’s first overseas solo show. Containing a delectable selection of Ana’s paintings, the California resident artist was in attendance at the recent opening, from which we have some pictures courtesy of the gallery. Last night, AM stopped by the spacious Lazarides popup gallery in Beverly Hills to take in the four-person show of Vhils, JR, Conor Harrington (interviewed), and Micallef (interviewed). Dubbed “Eurotrash,” the impressive grouping had ample room to each bring a full body of work for all to enjoy. Another stop on the Culver City Artwalk last weekend for us was “Picks of the Harvest” at Thinkspace Gallery. With the recent moves of several of our favorite galleries into the the area, the stroll through the art district has become alot more enjoyable and productive. Headlining the show were the tongue-in-cheek paintings from the always entertaining David MacDowell (featured). Also on display were many other works from the gallery’s roster of artists. This past Saturday, one of the stops we made at the Culver City Artwalk that made us pause for a long while was “Booked” (previewed) at Carmichael Gallery. This past Saturday, AM saw the return of Skullphone to his home of Los Angeles. The show “Digital Media” takes a closer look and questions the viewer about their relationship with technology. Skullphone always has packed opening, but this was one of the few where you had to line up and wait for the “one in one out” if you didn’t get there early.
