Streets: Etam Cru x Robert Proch // UNIQA Art Lodz (Poland)

Recently in Lodz, Etam Cru and Robert Proch teamed up to paint an amazing new mural they entitled Enjoy The Silence. The wall was painted for UNIQA Art Lodz, a new urban art program curated by Michał Bieżyński (of Lodz Murals). Located in a high traffic area (Sienkiewicza 81), the piece naturally went to the two artists (Etam Cru) who got their start in the central Polish city as well as to Proch, one of the best muralists in Poland. The collaboration is one of the most interesting […]

Previews: Sebas Velasco – “Permanent Midnight” @ Montana Gallery

On Thursday September 8th, Montana Gallery Barcelona will be opening their new season of shows with an exhibition by Sebas Velasco. Permanent Midnight will be his first solo with the gallery, but not the first time showing in the Catalan capital. The San Sebastian-based artist has been active in graffiti since 2004, but his artistic language was strongly influenced by the degree in Fine Arts at the University of País Vasco and Masters Degree in Painting at UPV/EHU. During years of traveling around Europe, Velasco developed a particular way of […]

Upcoming: Ron English – “Guernica” @ Allouche Gallery

On September 22nd, Allouche Gallery in New York will be opening a solo show from Ron English (featured) in their new Meatpacking District space. Three years in the making, the new body of work will be entitled Guernica, a fitting choice as he has painted his own pop-infused versions this masterpiece from Picasso over 50 times (including on the streets). For this exhibition, English will no doubt have another iteration of the piece prepared for his fans so add this to your art calendar if you will […]

Other participants include Ron English, Josh Keyes, Henrik Uldalen, David Stoupakis, Jana Brike, Brian Viveros, Dan Quintana, Marco Mazzoni, Naoto Hattori, Johnson […]

On October 15th, Masakatsu Sashie will be opening a new solo at Jonathan LeVine Gallery entitled External Effect. From the drawings you see on the Japanese artist’s table in the photo above, it looks as though he will be continuing his popular clustered globe works. This exhibition will be a followup to his successful showing at the Chelsea showspace in 2013 (covered). Discuss Masakatsu Sashie here.

On September 1st, recent RISD MFA graduate Tristram Lansdowne (interviewed) will be opening a solo show in Toronto at Wil Kucey Gallery (formerly Le Gallery). Paintings by the Canadian artist for The Living Room were inspired by the modern homes designed by famous architect Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret in their early years. The continued exploration of structures by Lansdowne for this show is accompanied with sound elements – recording of excerpts from texts that were important during the creation of the new body of work. Discuss Tristram […]

Upcoming: Ryan Hewett @ Unit London

Only couple of weeks ahead of his long awaited London solo show, Ryan Hewett (featured) and The Unit London shared with us some images of his newest works. Opening towards the end of September, Hewett’s solo show will include a new series of portrait oils created especially for this exhibition. After a great success of the […]
