Upcoming: Eddie Peake – “Head” @ Deitch Projects

On September 8th, Jeffrey Deitch will be re-opening his Wooster Street gallery with three nights of performances from Eddie Peake. By reputation, attendees to the RSVP only ([email protected]) events will be seeing the human body on display with live music and original compositions. Inspired by after seeing ENDYMION, the London-born artist’s performance for Performa 13, Deitch decided to inaugurate his return to the NY art scene with Peake’s explorations of voyeurism, sexuality and gender. Previews: “LAX / ORD” @ Vertical Gallery

Continuing their series of curatorial group shows, Thinkspace will be bringing their roster of artists to Chicago on September 3rd at Vertical Gallery. Like previous iterations, the show is titled after the airports of Los Angeles, where the gallery is based and the location where they are visiting – LAX / ORD. Releases: Jim Houser – “Sidewalk Hymn” Print

Sidewalk Hymn is a new print released by Jim Houser through 1xRUN. The standard edition comes in a run of 40 and costs $65 whereas the hand-embellished edition comes in a run of 15 and costs $150. Measuring 24 x 18 inches, the prints are signed and numbered, have a COA included, and having framing as an option. Streets / Recap: POW! WOW! Antelope Valley

Held in conjunction with The New Vanguard at MOAH was the latest iteration of the POW! WOW! series of street art festivals. POW! WOW! Upcoming: Madsaki – “HICKORY DICKORY DOCK” @ Hidari Zingaro

On August 27th, Madsaki will be opening a show entitled HICKORY DICKORY DOCK at Hidari Zingaro in Tokyo. Along with his signature works that feature portraits of people that have their faces replaced with drippy smiley faces, the Osaki-born writer will also be presenting his own remix on the iconic flower paintings from the owner of the gallery – Takashi Murakami.

Previews: David Lyle – “Formative Years” @ Bale Creek Allen Gallery

On September 2nd, David Lyle will be presenting a new body of work at Bale Creek Allen in Austin, Texas. Formative Years will focus thematically on the childhood years and will continue his series of works inspired by found vintage and vernacular photographs, remixed with his satire and unique artistic vision. Rendered using only black paint and turpentine, Lye’s special technique involves painting and removing paint with a cloth at the same time. Discuss David Lyle here.

Upcoming: KAWS – “Where The End Starts” @ Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

Starting on October 20th, a major survey exhibition of the work of KAWS will be opening at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. A followup to his 2011 show at The Modern (covered), Where The End Starts will feature “key paintings, sculptures, drawings, toys, and street art interventions” that will give a complete review of the Brooklyn-based artist’s 20 year career.
