Releases: KAWS x Nancy Gonzalez Handbag Collection

Last week, KAWS announced his latest project, a collaboration with Nancy Gonzalez on a handbag collection. Continuing his foray into the fashion world (also see Uniqlo & Mira Mikati), the Brooklyn-based artist lent his iconic double x’s to the Colombian designer known for her handbags of exotic leathers and brightly colored hues. Releases: Eddie Martinez x Case Studyo – “Untitled” Handwoven Rug

Tomorrow at noon on their website, Case Studyo will be releasing a handwoven woolen rug based on one of Eddie Martinez’s paintings from 2015. Produced in an edition 12 + 4 AP, the tapestry is sized at 210 cm x 140 cm and comes with a signed and numbered certificate by the artist. On June 25th, Thinkspace Gallery opened New Works, a double solo by artists Jeremy Fish and Jim Houser. Both artist built their careers through their love for drawing, music and skate culture, creating influential and distinctive works and graphics along the way. This show introduces their latest bodies of work. In May, we shared with you the amazing takeover by JR (interviewed) at the famous Louvre in Paris where he pasted over the iconic pyramid using photographs of the surrounding structures. After two months of participating in 999 Foundation’s Artist Resistance Residency, Seth aka Julien Malland will be revealing his solo show entitled Range Ta Chambre (Clean Up Your Room) in Rome on the 7th of July. On July 7th, artist and illustrator Von (interviewed) will be opening a new solo show entitled Echoes at StolenSpace in London. The new body of work in graphite is a continuation of his Elsewhere series – capturing this fleeting moments of personal reflection that is becoming rare in our digital world. Openings: KAWS – “BFF” @ Central Embassy (Bangkok)

A couple of days ago, Central Embassy in Bangkok unveiled the latest large-scale sculpture from KAWS, standing 8 meters tall outside their complex. Produced with the help of curator AllRightsReserved, the event also featured a plush version of the figure, which looked to be a cross between Elmo & The Cookie Monster, remixed the the Brooklyn-based artist’s double-x eyes and skull & cross bones. Along with this, to the delight of his fans, there was also an exhibition of limited edition prints as well other associated products for sale. If you are a fan of Takashi Murakami and have visited Japan in the past, you may have made a stop at Bar Zingaro, the spirits section that connects his galleries in the Nakano Broadway mall in Tokyo.
