On Thursday September 8th, Montana Gallery Barcelona will be opening their new season of shows with an exhibition by Sebas Velasco. Permanent Midnight will be his first solo with the gallery, but not the first time showing in the Catalan capital. The San Sebastian-based artist has been active in graffiti since 2004, but his artistic language was strongly influenced by the degree in Fine Arts at the University of País Vasco and Masters Degree in Painting at UPV/EHU. On September 22nd, Allouche Gallery in New York will be opening a solo show from Ron English (featured) in their new Meatpacking District space. Three years in the making, the new body of work will be entitled Guernica, a fitting choice as he has painted his own pop-infused versions this masterpiece from Picasso over 50 times (including on the streets). On September 17th, beinArt Gallery in Brunswick, Australia will be opening their Small Works 2016 group show. As the title of the exhibition suggest, the pieces in the show are meant to be affordable and all measure under 10″ x 10″. Tiffany Bozic liked this format so much (see above and directly below), she may be making some more smaller paintings in the future. Upcoming: Masakatsu Sashie – “External Effect” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On October 15th, Masakatsu Sashie will be opening a new solo at Jonathan LeVine Gallery entitled External Effect. From the drawings you see on the Japanese artist’s table in the photo above, it looks as though he will be continuing his popular clustered globe works. Recently in Drammen, Noway, artistic duo Telmo Miel painted a mural entitled Når jeg blir Stor or When I Grow Up for the UGANGprosjektet. Referencing the country’s viking roots, the piece was the second one the two painted on their trip (first one here). Tomorrow (August 30th) at 8am PST, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be releasing the 1st printing of his Micro Portfolio 7 – The Gay 90’s Exhibition through Porterhouse. The 24 oversized (9″ x 6″) postcards includes paintings and drawings from The Gay 90’s Olde Tyme Art Show (covered) and The Gay Nineties West (covered). On September 1st, recent RISD MFA graduate Tristram Lansdowne (interviewed) will be opening a solo show in Toronto at Wil Kucey Gallery (formerly Le Gallery). Paintings by the Canadian artist for The Living Room were inspired by the modern homes designed by famous architect Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret in their early years. On October 8th, Seonna Hong (interviewed) will be opening a new exhibition at Hashimoto Contemporary entitled In Our Nature. The Los Angeles-based artist looks to be continuing her series of works that feature her girl characters and their animal companions as they explore roughly painted landscapes and geometric shapes.
