Streets: Pangeaseed – “Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans” (New Zealand) – Part II

After a look at some of the artists at work on their pieces for the Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans project sponsored by the PangeaSeed Foundation, here is a look at some select walls they painted. The muralists were invited in by the non-profit in Napier, New Zealand to create works to raise awareness for ocean environmental issues. The beautiful piece painted above was Askew (photo by Olivia Laita). Take a look at more of the walls below…

Only few days before the opening of a long awaited London solo by Paul Insect, we got a nice peek at the artist’s studio while he was adding final touches to the new pieces. In a year when his gigantic thumb-up piece Really Good will be revealed on top of the Fourth Plinth in London’s Trafalgar Square, David Shrigley is actively showing in galleries as well. Simultaneously with his Berlin drawings show (covered), he recently opened his Drawings and Paintings exhibition at Stephen Friedman Gallery in London. Releases: Kaws x Uniqlo Collection

Recently, Nigo announced that KAWS will be designing Uniqlo’s UT line for spring. The new collection, scheduled to be on sale April 22nd, will consist of 12 T-shirts with the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. By the first look, they are everything KAWS fans would hope for. The Companions, X’s, gloves, eyes and Chums, all rendered with the American artist’s recognizable line work, have found their way on to the backs and fronts of the tees. Upcoming: Michael Dotson @ Zieher, Smith, & Horton

On April 28th, Zieher, Smith, & Horton will be putting on display Michael Dotson’s remix of iconic Disney imagery in a solo show. The New York-based artist started down this path when he stumbled upon Disney Screencaps, a website featuring almost every frame of every Disney movie ever made. Altering, twisting, and distorting the stills with his artistic vision, Dotson helps them reach their full potential by accenting different elements and incorporating electric colors and patterns. Previews: Danny van Ryswyk – “Tender Loving Darkness” @ Roq La Rue

On April 7th, Seattle’s Roq La Rue will be welcoming in Danny van Ryswyk and his series of sculptures in a show entitled Tender Loving Darkness. The Amsterdam-based artist uses an interesting process to create his morbid works, starting digitally with a 3D program. He then prints these out with a 3D printer and meticulously hand paints each one in a process that can take weeks. Along with these dark sculptural renditions, van Ryswyk also has included some prints in the exhibition. Discuss Danny van Ryswyk here.
