Previews: Nick Walker @ Quin Arts

On January 21st (6-9pm), Nick Walker (interviewed) will be opening a solo show at the Quin Hotel in New York. As the hotel’s inaugural artist-in-residence, the British artist already has 15 original pieces for display in their permanent collection. The newest body of work will be sure to put his stencil skills on display as well as bring us along some further adventures with his iconic Vandal. Discuss Nick Walker here.

Releases: Charlie Immer // IxRUN – “The Funk Of 40,000 Years” Print

Fans of Charlie Immer’s work can now purchase The Funk Of 40,000 Years, a print just released through 1xRUN. The image is taken from Lyric 3, a show last year at the Inner State Gallery that was musically themed and curated by Glenn Barr. Immer was inspired by the song Thriller by Michael Jackson to paint this piece and included one of his signature skeletons painted in his characteristic style. If you attended any of the previous Supersonic Invitational shows, you know you’re in for a treat. Previews: Ai Weiwei – “Er Xi” @ Le Bon Marché

In July 2015, Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei finally got his passport back four years after Chinese authorities seized it preventing him from leaving the country. In recent months, he’s been traveling around Europe, from UK to Greece, where he visited the refugee camp on Lesbos and set up a studio there. Currently he is Paris, working on an upcoming exhibition at Le Bon Marché, an upscale department store. Currently at The Huntington in Los Angeles, a selection of works from Alex Israel has been inserted throughout the the historic institution’s European art collection.
