Upcoming: “MONOCHROME” @ HHH Gallery

This Saturday night, June 13th, the HHH Gallery in Tokyo will be hosting a new group exhibition entitled MONOCHROME. Curated by Usugrow, one of the co-founders of the gallery along with Haroshi, the show will include pieces from Aaron Horkey, Mike Giant, SHOHEI, Kyotaro (seen above), Toshikazu Nozaka, Ozabu, Sadam, and Usugrow. The work will be created with pencils, mechanical pencils, black markers, ink pens, ink brushes, and everyday ballpoint pens, and although complex, will be monochromic as referenced by the title of the show. On June 4th, Avantgarden Gallery in Milan opened OLYMPVS, a solo show by James Reka, that will stay on view until THE 10th of July. For this event, the Berlin-based artist created a coherent body of work that mirrors the aesthetics of ancient Greek culture. Showing the typical imagery of that period, through his almost abstract visual language, Reka created an interesting mixture of old and new. Openings: Open Summer Festival in Toulouse (FR)

For the 4th year running (see 2014 here), the Open Summer Festival invited twenty international artists to Toulouse (FR) to the new creative hub Cinquante Cinq / Espace Cobalt. Outside the exhibition space, guests enjoyed live painting sessions with a Graffiti Jam and relaxed with good summer vibes including enjoying a barbecue and music. Alice Gallery in Brussels recently opened Salut, the first Belgium solo show by artist, designer, and illustrator, Parra. The show features a new body of work that includes drawings, paintings, and a large sculpture titled Give Up. Urban art lovers in Geneva, Switzerland, are currently enjoying the original works by two of the members of the infamous French graffiti crew DMV. Humanity, curated by Nicolas Couturieux, is a two men show featuring Kan and Gris1 that opened on the 28th of May at Atelier des Bains.
