Recap: Nuart Festival (Part 2) – Streets

If you enjoyed the indoor work that some of the artists put in for this year’s Nuart Festival, you will definitely want an update on what they created on their primary canvas – the streets. Participants this year included Andreco, Borondo (seen above), DotDotDot, Etam Cru, Fra.Biancoshock, Icy & Sot, John Fekner, Levalet, M-City, Martin Whatson, Mathieu Tremblin, ±MAISMENOS±, Spy, Strøk, and Tilt. AM was on hand for Jenny Morgan’s 13th solo, The Golden Hour, at Denver’s Plus Gallery. The buzz around the exhibition was palpable with Morgan being on the cover of the August issue of Juxtapoz. Streets: DALeast (Portland)

Releases: Conor Harrington – “Unveiling” Print

Tomorrow, September 17th, at 16:00 BST, Conor Harrington (interviewed) will be releasing a new print through The Outsiders. Entitled Unveiling, the new image is taken from a new painting for his popup show opening on September 27th in New York at a still undisclosed location. Streets: Living Walls (London)

Moniker Projects and Create teamed up a couple of months ago for Living Walls, a public arts programme for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. Recap: Kate MccGwire @ St Mary in the Castle

The Coastal Currents Festival of Visual Arts in Hastings in the South East of England, recently hosted new work from Kate MccGwire. Known for her sculptural works created from feathers, the British artist elected to create two site-specific installation pieces – Secrete (seen above) and Purge. Openings: Reka & Two One – “Trip The Light” & “Hunted Hunter’s Head” @ StolenSpace

StolenSpace Gallery is opening the new season in London with two concurrent solo shows from Australian artists based in Berlin – Reka (seen above) with a body of work entitled Trip The Light and paintings from Two One’s collectively named Hunted Hunter’s Head. Reka’s fresh paintings are  inspired by his mother, who was a ballerina. His brushstrokes reflect the graceful movements of a female dancer though a monochromatic palette. Previews: Tessar Lo – “Devices And The Virtues” @ Jaski Art Gallery

On September 27th, Tessar Lo (featured) will once again (see 2011, 2012) open a solo at Jaski Art Gallery in Amsterdam. The Indonesian-born and Toronto-raised painter will be bringing a new set of paintings and drawings collectively entitled Devices And The Virtues, all rendered in a colorful palette and radiating raw innocence.
