Curator Zach Tutor from the highly addictive and widely read Supersonic Electronic blog has assembled another great line-up of new-contemporary artists for his Third Annual Supersonic Invitational. Openings: Swoon – “Braddock Tiles Benefit Group Exhibition”

Back in November, Swoon (interviewed) led a project entitled Braddock Tiles aimed to revitalize a Lutheran church from the early 20th century. Superchief Gallery and the Anita Shapolsky Foundation hosted an evening of celebration and launched the project with a series of prints and original works also contributed by ROA, RETNA, Dennis McNett and more.

Ron Mandos Gallery in Amsterdam entered the new year with, Heimlich, a solo show by the Dutch artist Maurice van Tellingen. For this exhibition, he created new sculptural works in his familiar style, where his pieces “resemble reality just like reality resembles itself”. Previews: Bom.K – “Confusions” @ Known Gallery

French graffiti artist Bom.K will be having his first solo show stateside called Confusions at Known Gallery in Los Angeles. Having exhibited with the DMV crew in Spain, Denmark, Australia, UK and following the success of his last solo show in France (covered here), Bom.k is taking the US by storm. Mastering the spray can with an incredible dexterity and intricate details, he depicts a gritty universe with his monstrous yet captivating creatures. Confusions opens on the 11th of January.

Basel Week Miami ’13: Audrey Kawasaki for Thinkspace @ SCOPE

Just like earlier last year for SCOPE during Basel Week Switzerland (covered), the Thinkspace Gallery booth in Miami was also featured a mini-solo show from Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed). Included in the new body of work were her familiar exquisite portraiture of seductively innocent girls, with her technique taking advantage of the wood grain in each piece. We stopped by Kelsey Brookes‘ first solo exhibition recently in New York at Judith Charles Gallery. Entitled Better Living Through Chemistry, this show features a large body of work focusing in on his abstract paintings and musings via eye catching molecular structures. This style is also based on his scientific background and delves further into drugs and its effect on the human consciousness. One of the launch events during Art Basel Week was Future Relic by Daniel Arsham (seen above with artist DRx Romanelli). Presented by OHWOW Gallery, this event served to debut a collaborative film starring Daniel with fashion designer Richard Chai and features Ben Louis Nicholas as the director of photography and music created by Swiss Beats.
