Yoshitomo Nara Museum Gala @ Asia Society

It’s been a wild few weeks of activity in which Yoshitomo Nara & Asia Society blessed the city of New York with a series of statues along Park Avenue, an Open-Studio Visit and a fantastic retrospective. It would be only fitting to send Nara-san back to Japan with a big bash. Releases: Mark Dean Veca – “As Cold As They Come” Gun Sculpt

One of the shows we are looking forward to this weekend is Mark Dean Veca’s (interviewed) “When the Shit Hits The Fan” at Western Project. You can look at our recent studio visit to get idea of the new body of work, but what we wanted to tell you about is a limited edition gun that is being released by Big Shot Toyworks entitled “As Cold As They Come” – a nod to a similarly named show in NY where the painting this sculpt is […]

Openings: Esao Andrews – “Solid Void” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

On Saturday, Esao Andrews opened up his latest exhibition at Jonathan Levine Gallery with a new body of work consisting of some of his largest paintings to date. Utilizing his signature mix of creative story telling and darkly laid out characters/compositions, Mr. Andrews entertained the audience with a rich and complex show. Some paintings are hauntingly beautiful while others deceptively twisted. Regardless of your initial impression, it’s always worth it to take a second look at his works. You’ll be as surprised as us on […]

With curatorial help from Aaron Rose, Roger Gastman and Fab 5 Freddy, works from more than a hundred street artists, including Banksy, […]

Take a look at the completed M-City piece and a faraway look at the Ericailcane piece after the jump…
