On Wednesday night, The Citrus Report is going to open it’s doors with a pop-up show for it’s first ever “Open Office” by taking over the old Fifty24SF gallery space at 252 Filmore Street from August 11th – 26th. After a great solo showing at LeBasse Projects, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) is already hard at work for his coming show at Roq La Rue September 10th. Showing along side peer Edwin Ushiro (interviewed), Mr. Yamamoto is set to unleash a new set of images for Seattle’s finest. We stopped by Yoskay’s downtown studio for a sneak peek at his new body of work. Check out a closer look at the fish after the jump.

Teaser: Brendan Monroe – “Figments” @ Galerie L.J.

Time flies. It has almost been a year since Brendan Monroe’s (interviewed) solo show at Richard Heller Gallery. In the meantime, he’s relocated to Sweden where he currently lives and works. His newest body of work entitled “Figments” will feature a collection of organic paintings and sculptures all done in his signature palette. Opening on September 4th, Brendan will be showing alongside his wife and fellow artist Evah Fan at Galerie L.J. in Paris. Discuss the show here. Discuss Brendan Monroe here.

Signing: Mark Ryden – “The Snow Yak Show” Book @ SFMOMA

Mark Ryden will be on hand to sign his latest book at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (Schwab Room: 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm) next week on Thursday, August 12th. The book from Last Gasp Books is a catalog of his “The Snow Yak Show” last year in Japan of which the new body of work took a minimalistic turn in style and palette. Discuss Mark Ryden here. If you haven’t signed up yet for a free subscription to The Art Street Journal, what are you waiting for? There aren’t that many publications out there, especially stateside, that focuses on this type of art. Also, this Saturday, August 7th (7-9pm), there will be release party at Carmichael Gallery for the newest edition (Vol II, Issue I), an expanded format featuring more color, pages, and articles including interviews with Boogie and Escif.

Rob Sato, who last showed at the Japanese American National Museum and GRSF, will be bringing his incredibly detailed and imaginative paintings to the Copro Gallery this weekend. “Muscle Memories” will be opening at the Santa Monica gallery on Saturday night, August 7th, alongside the Naoto Hattori’s show.
