Teaser: Shepard Fairey April 2010 Exhibition @ Deitch Projects

The recent appointment of Jeffrey Deitch as the new Director of MOCA has spurred much rumor and speculation regarding the continued operation of Deitch Projects and their scheduled exhibitions.  It has been confirmed by the museum and by Mr. Deitch himself that all commercial activity on his end will cease by June 1, 2010, meaning Deitch Projects as we all know it will shutter. Another show we are looking forward to in March is Andrew Schoultz’s solo in Italy at the Jerome Zodo Contemporary.  Entitled “Crisis,” the exhibition opens on March 11th and will include this amazing large scale (11′ x 24′) piece “Monument Yard. (Monument to Turbulent Times)” which was about one and a half years in the making. We’ve been following the work of Brooklyn artist Kevin Cyr for a little while now and we were excited to hear that he has a new body of work appearing at Raandesk Gallery of Art in New York. “Behind the Curtain” also features Jason Bryant, whom Cyr met whilst they were both working as assistants for Kehinde Wiley. Benefit: “The Partnership for the Homeless” Auction hosted by Larry Gagosian

On Friday, January 29, 2010, Larry Gagosian is hosting a benefit auction at his gallery in New York City in support of The Family Resource Center of The Partnership for the Homeless.  The event is co-chaired by artist Richard Serra and his wife Clara and the Principal Auctioneer is Tobias Meyer, Worldwide Head of Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s.  The spectacular artwork can be seen at the auction website and includes some fantastic pieces by today’s top artists, including the above pictured Richard Serra 80″x80″ painting […]

Releases: Alex Pardee’s Digested Rainbow Giclee

Releasing later today is Alex Pardee’s “Digested Rainbow” giclee. “Digested Rainbow” was one of the standout pieces from his “Letters from Digested Children” show that we covered last year at FIFTY24SF. Limited to an edition of 50, the giclee comes signed and numbered and measures in at 17″ x 22″. Available sometime today through Hi-Fructose.

As we eagerly await AM favorite Josh Keyes’ (interviewed) solo show “Fragment” opening this Saturday at Jonathan LeVine Gallery, we can share with you a shot from Josh’s new studio in Portland of the work in progress for the new body of work.
