Had the opportunity to check out the “Beyond Baby Tattooville” exhibit at the Riverside Art Museum a couple weeks back. Strangely enough, opening night is on Oct 4th to coincide with the weekend of Baby Tattooville, but the work was put up for public viewing on Sept 4th. Here is a quick turnaround video of the exhibit. There will be one piece from all the artists last year as well as one piece from all the artists this year in the exhibit. I believe there […]

So after tearing up the UK urban art scene for the past few years… the infamous Lazarides is going to hold a surprise show in the “big apple” next week. Laz is a UK gallery known for representing some of the most notable artists in the Urban/Street scene such as Banksy, Micallef and Faile. Teaser: Josh Keyes @ OKOK

Josh Keyes posted a stunning new image up today from his upcoming show “Mist” at OKOK gallery next month. We really love the multiple levels of interactions in this piece. From the water-fire hydrant association to the predator-prey relationships of the eagle-rabbit & bear-fish, there certainly is much to think about. This is easily one of the our most anticipated shows to close out 2009 so we have been hard at work gathering as much information as we can. Josh is expected to deliver about […]

Especially for the benefit, pop surrealist superstar Mark Ryden is producing an exclusive limited edition print, with all proceeds going to the Obama Victory Fund. And for all you who aren’t in LA, you can get the print now, even if you […]

Openings: Masakatsu Sashie @ Giant Robot 2

Masakatsu Sashie‘s show “Under Fluorescent Light” opened last Saturday at GR2 on the west side. As usual, his detailed spheres encompassing urban elements (buildings, vending machines, air conditioners, television sets) were quite eye-catching. It’s as if his so-called “orb paintings” shrunk the ingredients of city living into a compact package for consumption. Another interesting item for sale was this model kit of one of his “orb paintings” that was for sale. Limited 50 pieces and nicely priced at $100, these must have sold out. Hopefully […]
