Studio Visits / Interviews: Hush

UK artist Hush’s latest solo show, “Hymn to beauty” (teased), kicks off on March 5th at Carmichael Gallery in LA. In between finishing up the body of work and nabbing 6 hours sleep over 3 days, Hush welcomed AM to his studio to take a look at the work in progress, where we did a little interview with him. Preview: Amy Crehore @ Thinkspace

Amy Crehore opens her solo exhibition “Dreamgirls & Ukes” at Thinkspace this Friday, 2/13 @ 7pm. Preview: Bob Dob @ Billy Shire

Baby Tattooville alumni Bob Dob is opening what looks to be a surf culture themed show, not surpising as he grew up in Hermosa Beach.  The show opens Valentine’s Day at Billy Shire Fine Arts with a body of work featuring his familiar characters, birds, waves and of course, the ubiquitous and mischevious little devil – Luey.  Take a look at some paintings from the show after the jump.

Preview/Interviews: Dan May @ Copro Nason

Dan May’s show “Slow Collison” opens this Saturday, February 7th at Copro Nason.  His lush environments and monsters are as eye catching now as they were when we first saw his work on flickr several years ago.  Of course, his work has evolved and become more rich with fantastic compositiona and “story-telling.”  Dan takes some time to answer some questions for us about his current show as well as plans for the rest of 2009.  Check the interview and some preview pics after the jump.

Preview: Ilia of Btoy @ Carmichael Gallery

Ilia, half of the Barcelona street-art duo Btoy, will be participating in the group show “Lifeline” which opens concurrently with Chris Stain’s solo show (previewed) at the Carmichael Gallery on Thursday, February 5th @ 7pm. The gallery was kind enough to send us a few preview images that highlight Ilia’s signature style featuring delicate lines and a muted palette.
