Toronto-based artist Tristram Lansdowne (featured) opens his New York – and United States – solo debut “Refuge” this coming Saturday, February 13th, at Joshua Liner Gallery in the heart of Chelsea. New York artist Martin Wittfooth’s show “Tempest” is set to open this Saturday night, February 14th in Santa Monica at the Copro Gallery. Showing alongside Miss Van tonight at Merry Karnowsky Gallery is Barcelona-based artist Victor Castillo. He follows up his debut show there last August with a new body of work entitled “Strange Fruit.” His deeply satirical work often takes what initially seem like harmless children – well, sausage nosed children – which on second look are engaged in situations they should not be involved in, with dangerous overtones all around. Sickboy – “Logopop Bristol” @ Friend & Co. Gallery

This week will see somewhat of a homecoming for UK street artist Sickboy as he opens the second installment (first was in London) of his Logopop shows at Friend & Co. Gallery in Bristol this Friday, February 5th. Widely known in the streets of the UK for his signature yellow and red temples, Sickboy promises a site specific installation using mixed media and digital technology alongside his interconnecting Logopop pieces plus other original artwork.

As AM was perusing the various booths at Art Los Angeles Contemporary, we ran into a painting by a instantly recognizable artist, lusted over by many a street art collector. We recently stopped by Hiro Kurata’s studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, to get a sneak peak of what he’s been working on for his upcoming two-person show with Tat Ito (featured), entitled “From Kojiki To Modern Heroism,” which opens February 13 at Joshua Liner Gallery.
