Teaser: “Brothers of the Weird” @ Cooper Cole Gallery

Todd “REAS” James, whose show at ICY signs along with Steve “ESPO” Powers featuring a exhibition of signs from their historic Street Market installation (sans Barry McGee) we just attended, has a new curatorial project coming up next month. Taking a group of friends up north to Cooper Cole Gallery (formerly Show & Tell Gallery), Brothers of Weird will include the also include the artistic stylings of Joe Grillo (Dearraindrop), Billy Grant, Devin Flynn and Ian Flynn.

Basel Week Miami ’11: Mark Ryden Preview

Another reason to hit up the major art fairs is the opportunities to see the new gems from Mark Ryden in person. For this year’s Miami rendition of Art Basel, the lowbrow painter will be bringing at least two originals with him to the party – Main Street USA (seen above) for the Michael Kohn booth (Booth K10) and Pinxit Jajo (seen after the jump) for the Paul Kasmin booth (Booth B14).

Streets / Teaser: EVOL @ Pictures on Walls

Hitting up London ahead of his showing at Pictures On Walls on December 1st, German artist EVOL installed some his distinctive work at Smithfield Market. Featuring his uncanny ability to transform urban objects into tiny cityscapes, this latest street intervention will only fuel the fires of fans in the UK as EVOL and full supporting cast of artists take over POW with their upcoming show. ESPO & REAS are at it again – this time perhaps without the third conspirator, Barry McGee, in regards to the Street Market installation seen recently at the seminal Art in the Streets exhibition at the LA MoCA. Teaser / Video: REVOK – “Triumph & Tragedy” @ Vicious Gallery

Coming up in December, REVOK will be bringing a new body of work he is preparing in Detroit for a show in Germany at Vicious Gallery. While in the motor city, the graffiti artist scoured the abandoned, derilict, and burned out shells of homes and building (including an old police station) for materials. Teaser: “District La Brea” Group Exhibition @ MK2 Projects

Teaser: Mars-1 @ Fecal Face Dot Gallery

On 11/11/11, San Francisco will be the site of Mars-1’s (featured) latest solo show, his first in the area since 2005. The new body of work will be hosted at a temporary location (248 Clement St. @4th Ave) as the Fecal Face Dot Gallery’s main space was the victim of a fire recently.
