Teaser: “Tarot – Artists’ Visions of the Future” @ Galerie Petits Papiers

Sounds like there are some Tarot themed shows and projects coming up this year. First up is “Tarot – Artists’ Visions of the Future” at Galerie Petits Papiers in Brussels. Although some of the other artists are unfamiliar to us, we do know that the supremely talented Ashley Wood painted the piece seen above for this exhibition. The show opens on May 27th if you happen to be in Belgium – you can see more info on the show here. Discuss Ashley Wood here.

Video / Teaser: Os Gemeos @ Museu Colecção Berardo

Sounds like Lisbon has some street artists visiting in the next several months with some pretty exciting things planned.  First up are the Brazilian duo Os Gemeos and their show opening up on Monday, May 17th, at the Museu Colecção Berardo. After touring major museums in their home country (here, here, and here), the twins have set their sites on Portugal for their next museum exhibition, this time entitled Pra quem mora lá, o céu é lá’ (To who lives there, heaven is there). Seen above […]

Teaser: Herakut @ Gallery Springmann.Varol

After getting off to a great start by holding a grand opening show with French sensation JR (covered), Galerie Springmann.Varol follows it up with another stellar choice – Herakut (interviewed). Although we just got a taste of their recent work, we are looking forward to this solo exhibition by the German street art duo. We’ll have more to follow as we draw closer to the opening on June 11th. Discuss Herakut here.

Teaser: “The Next Generation” @ London Miles Gallery (Curated by Thinkspace)

With the opening of Corey Helford’s “Art From The New World” set to open this weekend in the Bristol (full coverage to follow), we look towards a show with similar goals coming up next month. “The Next Generation”, curated by Thinkspace, seeks to further promote a new breed of contemporary artists to the UK audience. The show will open on June 11th at the London Miles Gallery and will feature 12″ x 12″ pieces from each participant. One of the artists scheduled as part of […]

Video / Teaser: Roa @ Factory Fresh

After stellar shows in Cologne, Paris and London, street artist Roa moves on the next big city – New York. We expect some large installs in the Big Apple as the Belgium-based artist likes to go big whether inside or outside of the gallery. The show opens Friday night, May 14th at the Factory Fresh Gallery in Brooklyn but for now, take a look at the video above to get an idea of the treat you are in for. Showcard after the jump…

Teaser: Pedro Matos – “Reality Show” @ Montana Shop & Gallery

Portuguese artist, Pedro Matos aka DRONE, will be opening a new exhibition in June at the Montana Shop & Gallery in Lisbon. Mixing his figurative painting skills with urban sensibility, the young and self-trained artist works on capturing the “fading” and slowly “disappearing” under-privileged in our society, often placing his gritty work on the streets. Expect some paintings like the one above as well as some site-specific installs for this upcoming show. Showcard after the jump…

Teaser: KAWS @ Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

Celebrated street turned contemporary artist, KAWS, will be opening his first solo museum exhibition next month at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. The show will include “his most recent paintings, sculptures, and drawings, as well as a survey of apparel, product and graphic designs, and limited-edition toys.” We can’t wait to see the whole setup, but we imagine it will be similar to what our friend Pirovino has in his collection (well, at least the 4 Foot KAWS figures). Teaser: Yoshitomo Nara – “Ceramic Works” @ Tomio Koyama Gallery

Acclaimed Japanese pop artist Yoshitomo Nara will be opening a new show this weekend, May 15th, at the Tomio Koyama Gallery in Tokyo. Another look after the jump…

Art HK ’10: Adam Neate @ Schoeni Gallery

As the Hong Kong’s annual International Art Fair (May 27-30) draws closer, we’ll be stepping up our previews of what to expect as well as hopefully proving coverage of the fair for the enjoyment of our readers. Fast becoming an important hub for the entrance and exit of art between the East and West, ART HK will be drawing from over 150 galleries participating from 29 different countries. One of the highlights for us this year will definitely be Adam Neate’s (interviewed) showcase with Elms […]

Teaser: Yoskay Yamamoto – “Familiar Strangers” @ Lebasse Projects

One of the shows we are really looking forward to next month is Yoskay Yamamoto’s (featured) return to LeBasse Projects. It’s hard to believe, but his last solo there was over a year ago and now he’s back with a new body of work entitled “Familiar Strangers.” Along with some sumptuous paintings with iconic characters and the thematic use of flowers (like the piece above), you can expect that he will continue to explore his sculptural work as well.  More to follow as the show […]
